Chapter 55: Proposal of Lord Conrad
Conrad-san, who welcomed our group, asked me, Victor, and Pauline-san about our future plans after seeing the people off.
“So, if the golden cloud is gradually shrinking, it means it will eventually disappear, right?”
“Yes, that seems to be the case.”
“Haru, what do you intend to do after that?”
“Well, I was thinking of selling porridge and gelato and settling down somewhere to live a normal life.”
“No, that’s probably not possible. The fact that there is a saint in this country serves as a significant deterrent to other nations. The country won’t just leave you alone.”
Victor also nodded with a gloomy expression.
A deterrent, huh? Am I a nuclear weapon or something?
“Um, I don’t know to what extent, but should I not mention that I can use healing magic?”
“What! You can even use healing magic?”
“Yes. I don’t know when my powers will fade or how much healing I can do. But I think that by receiving that light and trying to save this country, I have finally acquired the abilities that were originally expected of a saint.”
Conrad-san let out a sigh, saying, “I see.”
“Haru, do you know until what age a strong healing wizard works at the royal castle?”
“No, not at all.”
“Until they die.”
“What? Until death? But what if the person wants to retire?”
Victor answered that question for me.
“They probably won’t be allowed to retire. Healing wizards continue working without getting married, seemingly taking occasional breaks.”
What kind of black company is this? No way, I absolutely refuse to work until I die.
“I’m not completely satisfied with the way the country operates either. So. . .”
Conrad-san proposed a plan, and I eagerly jumped at it.
The next night, we were at the location Pauline-san foresaw.
With many subjects watching, I returned the magical power from the clouds to the earth. And this time, new patterns were engraved on my lower legs, from my knees to my ankles. If Victor hadn’t praised it as “beautiful,” I would have burst into tears.
The clouds visibly shrank, and the number of spectators increased day by day. I am now widely known as the saint among the people.
As the clouds diminished, the magic circle that Victor deployed also became smaller.
The final moment of the golden cloud came at night.
The shrinking cloud emitted a bright light, and after I returned the magical power to the earth, the golden cloud scattered golden dust into the night sky, slowly unraveled, and disappeared.
“Wow! Saint-sama, hooray!”
Amidst the growing crowd, I heard such voices, and Crown Prince Eldred, looking satisfied, approached me.
“Haru, and Victor. On behalf of the Kingdom of Kholdar, I express my deepest gratitude for what you have done. I can’t thank you enough.”
“We did what we could, Your Highness.”
“Allow me to show my gratitude for saving the country from a great disaster. For now, let’s return to the palace together and spend a relaxing evening.”
“Regarding that, Your Highness, I have a request.”
“Tell me anything. I will do my best to fulfill your request.”
The Crown Prince answered in front of the many people. So, with tears streaming down my face, I earnestly pleaded, “Since my mission is complete, please send me back to my original world. Return me to my family.”
The surrounding people joined in with their tears.
“Well, um. . .”
“I was summoned to this world against my will for the sake of Kholdar Kingdom’s crisis. Please, I beg you, release me now.”
It was expected that Crown Prince Eldred couldn’t give an immediate response in this situation.
That night, we stayed at Conrad-san’s mansion and used the mansion’s kitchen to make a large amount of gelato with Victor’s help.
Now, we are having a conversation while enjoying gelato after dinner.
“At the beginning, it’s important to make a strong move and extract concessions in negotiations.”
“As expected, Conrad-san. I didn’t think you were just a nice person.”
“Haru, I suppose that’s a compliment, right?”
“Of course.”
To be honest, I no longer have the intention to go back to my original world, even if it means crushing the summoner. With delicate plant patterns engraved all over my body from the decollete area down, I can’t imagine living a normal life as an office worker in Japan.
So my only request is for the country not to interfere. I want to be free. I want to be left alone. That’s the extent of my request, and I shouldn’t face any consequences for it.

However, we became too famous in the Kingdom of Kholdar. Even before we started selling rice porridge, there were long queues, and it sold out immediately. The same goes for the gelato. Whenever Victor and I stroll through the market, people split into two sides and bow deeply, as if I was Moses.
“What should we do? This is no longer a normal life, right?”
“It will settle down eventually. . . but I have a feeling it won’t. I don’t want to raise our children in this kind of environment.”
“Y-Yeah, you’re right.”
Please stop casually saying things that make my heart race.
So, we decided to use the gifts handed to us by Conrad-san in the capital city.
