“Really? If it’s so delicious and you’ll eat it, I’ll give it to Eliza.”

“Ah! I don’t need that! . . .Ah.”

A look of regret crosses her face, but it lasts only for a moment.

“This was prepared for Sofia, right?

The cook will be sad if you don’t eat it. They went to all the trouble to make it.”

Perhaps feeling it was inappropriate that she had inadvertently expressed her true dislike,

Eliza smiled brightly and rephrased her words.

Despite being two years older, I admire her ability to handle situations like this.

That’s probably why none of the harassment Eliza has done so far has been discovered.

“That’s true. . .I feel sorry, but I don’t want to eat it.

It’s a shame I can’t even take a bite.

I thought the cook would be happy if Eliza ate even a little bit.

I’ll give you all of it. It’s delicious, isn’t it?”

“Uh. . .I’ll have to decline. I have my own portion. . .”

Seeing her face about to contort, I can hardly resist laughing.

Eliza must have seen me smirk, I can tell she’s angry.

She’ll probably come to complain later. This went well.

“. . .Not eating that much, it looks like you think it’s poisoned.

Don’t you think it’s rude to the host of this dinner party, Father?”

Uncle shouts, apparently irritated.

Although he’s the third prince, he’s a half-brother to Otou-sama, having been born of a concubine.

With a rather tasteless face, I marvel at how he can maintain so many mistresses.

Otou-sama and Okaa-sama pretend not to hear, ignoring us.

Helplessly, I listen in silence as uncle continues to complain.

I have no intention of eating it, and if he strikes me here, all the better.

I was hoping he’d get angrier, but he was stopped by my grandfather.

“. . .Sofia seems to be feeling unwell.

You may return and rest now.”

“Father!!”

“If I call her here, do you have a problem if I allow her to leave?”

“This is why Sofia is called a spoiled princess!

If you don’t discipline her, she’ll become arrogant!”

“Ah, I see. Getting conceited, huh.”

Aren’t you mistaken, Edgar?”

“Mistaken, me?”

“Sofia has a higher status than you.

You have no right to the throne, but Sofia does.

A subject like you disciplining a royal like Sofia. . .it’s unthinkable.”

“Father?! But I am her uncle!”

“So what? When you became a Duke, you ceased to be royalty.

After Crown Prince Daniel, the succession goes to Sofia,

Then the second prince, Fritz, followed by Fritz’s child.

You and your family are mere Dukes, and the difference in status is clear.

The problem is you, saying things like ‘spoiled’ and ‘discipline.’

Know your place, Edgar.

If you don’t reflect on this, we won’t invite you to dinner parties anymore.”

“””. . . . .”””

My uncle’s face turns dark with anger.

Beside him, the Duchess and Eliza’s eyes widen.

Still, what my grandfather says is correct.

Even if they thought otherwise, they couldn’t argue back.

My grandfather’s reprimand allowed the dinner party to continue.

All three are eating quietly, but I can see they’re still angry.

Grandfather. . .Did he deliberately anger the three of them?

Well, it helps me anyway.

Pretending not to notice anything, I’ll return to my room.
