The Dungeon Conquest Squad, now the Rogue Adventurers Extermination Team, continued their relentless descent deeper and deeper into the dungeon.

In the dungeon, there were piles of magical stones and materials seemingly left behind by the rogue adventurers at various places.

They were probably planning to collect them on their way back.

The footprints had crossed the 10th floor and descended even further, finally reaching the 14th floor.

And now, those tracks disappeared deep into the path leading to the innermost 15th floor.

“Wilfred-sama, this is dangerous. If we encounter the dungeon boss, we won’t stand a chance with our current strength.”

Tyrone, a veteran warrior, was visibly sweating.

The innermost part of the dungeon, where magical essence accumulates the most, is sometimes occupied by a demon beast that has grown powerful.

The demon beast, standing at the top of the dungeon’s food chain and known as the dungeon boss, sometimes requires a large-scale extermination involving hundreds of people.

“It seems they entered about 30 minutes ago.”

Luke murmured while observing the footprints.

“Hmm, they’re probably taking their time hunting the demon beast. . . If we hurry, we might catch up. . .”

“Aaaaargh!!!”

As Sir Wilfred was frowning in contemplation, a scream echoed from deep within the dungeon.

“Damn, are we too late?! Everyone, let’s go!”

At Sir Wilfred’s command, the extermination team rushed down to the 15th floor.

“Luke, what’s wrong?”

Alma asked curiously while running at the back of the group.

Luke had a smile on his face next to her.

“No, it’s just that even if they are rogue adventurers, going to help them in danger is something your father would do. I was just thinking that if Alma were leading this team, she would do the same.”

Alma, initially puzzled by Luke’s words, eventually returned the smile proudly.

“That’s my Otou-sama for you!”

The deepest part of the 15th layer is a space like a huge dome.

And within it, there it was.

A massive demon beast, a chimera, with the body of a goat and the tail of a poisonous snake.

The long neck of the goat bent backward, and from the middle, a giant lion’s head emerged.

The creature stands three meters tall, and including the snake tail, it must be ten meters long.

The lion’s massive jaws are clutching a human from the head.

With a dull crunching sound, the human the chimera had in its mouth fell to the ground.

Everything above the shoulders was cleanly missing.

“Eeeek!”

Several men and women stood petrified around the chimera, screaming.

They must be the rogue adventurers.

There should have been about ten, but now nearly half of them lay as corpses.

“I didn’t hear anything about such a creature!”

“Help me!”

They had already lost the will to fight, but the chimera was not about to listen.

Roar!

With a roar, a giant fireball shot out from the chimera’s mouth.

“Aaaaah!”

One of the rogue adventurers turned into a fireball and collapsed to the ground.

“Eeeeeeek!”

The remaining adventurers, devoid of the strength to flee, collapsed to the ground.

The poisonous snake tail of the chimera struck towards them.

“Uwaaaaaah!”

“Explosion!”

Just as the poison fangs were about to strike an adventurer, Luke’s magic hit the lion’s face.

The chimera stumbled back, growling.

“Quickly, this way!”

At Luke’s call, the rogue adventurers ran towards him in a panic.

“W, Who are you guys. . .?”

“We’re not allies, but we couldn’t just leave you. It’s dangerous, so stay back.”

After saying that, Luke quickly turned back to the chimera.

The chimera, seemingly irritated, growled and shook its body.

The spot where Luke’s magic hit showed not a single wound.

“This is tough. Even an explosion spell couldn’t damage it, such incredible magical resistance.”

“Luke, are you okay?!”

“I’m fine! Let’s use this chance to retreat!”

At Luke’s voice, the chimera’s movement suddenly stopped.

Magical essence visibly overflowed from its entire body.

“This is bad, we need to get out of here!”

“ROOOAAAR!”

Almost simultaneously, Tyrone shouted and the chimera’s roar enveloped the entire dome.

The powerful cry shook the dungeon, halting everyone in their tracks.

“Damn, we’re trapped! The area is sealed!”

Tyrone struck his fist into empty space.

No, a field of magical power sealed off the space around them.

The chimera slowly turned towards them.

The lion’s eyes were fixed on them.

They were the eyes of a carnivore that had spotted its prey.

“It’s no use! We’re all going to be eaten here!”

“Shut up! It’s all because you guys sneaked in and wreaked havoc on your own!”

Tyrone scolds the crouching, head-in-hands, back row adventurer.

However, his face is covered with pearl-like cold sweat due to fear and impatience.

“But this is the worst turn of events. We’ve been trapped by the Dungeon Boss’s unique magic, Area Seal. We can’t escape from here anymore.”

“No, there must still be a way.”

Luke stepped forward.

“If we defeat the chimera, who is the caster, the magic deployed here will be lifted.”

“That’s reckless! That guy has been the master here for 50 years, and every time someone tried to subdue him, they failed!”

“That’s right. My grandfather was killed by that chimera, and my father tried many times but couldn’t defeat him.”

Sir Wilfred followed after Tyrone.

Both of them had valid points.

Luke had fought the dungeon boss several times while training under Iris.

Each time, he faced a formidable enemy far stronger than ordinary demon beasts, barely escaping death.

The chimera this time is likely to be just as formidable.

Still, Luke had no intention of backing down.

Glancing over, he saw Alma looking worried.

His expression was invisible under the helmet, but his attitude said it all.

He intended to protect Alma at all costs.

And for that, he had to defeat that chimera.

“It’s going to be okay.”

Luke nodded to the two of them.

“I’ll take care of that chimera. You two focus on defense.”

Saying that, Luke dashed out without waiting for their response.
