Nazar asked.

“What do you mean when you say that ‘the Crolr is acting suspiciously’?”

“There was an intelligence report that the Crolr warrior class and the majority of its military has disappeared. The Crolr wields tremendous influence in the galaxies around them, so a military of that size just vanishing can only mean that they’re planning another conquest somewhere.”

Darwin glanced at his wristwatch to check the time once more before he continued.

“My best guess is that their likely target is Vehlpciaarct in the Sculptor Dwarf Constellation. Besides Vehlpciaarct, there aren’t any other forces around that would warrant the Crolr moving their entire military.”

“Darwin. That’s too naïve.”

“Right. The Crolr could also be targeting the humans. They’re a race that will pick a fight even if the odds aren’t in their favor, as long as there’s a chance of victory. . . And Vehlpciaarct is quite close to the Aooa, who are friendly with the humans. So the Ministry of Foreign Affairs contacted Vehlpciaarct to ask, and they said that the Crolr military hasn’t gone there.”

“Then it’s even more likely that the Crolr is targeting the humans.”

“I’ve had the Magellan Stream under surveillance, but there’s been no sign of the Crolr. So we can’t tell for sure if the Crolr is really after the humans, or if they’re targeting a galaxy further away from the Greater Magellanic Cloud.”

Nazar thought of Anima Selas heading towards the Large Magellanic Cloud.

“Did the Aooa, who are friendly with the humans, say anything similar?”

“They also said that they don’t know where the Crolr is headed. The same goes for the other races in the Crolr’s sphere of influence. We can’t tell if they’re all keeping their mouths shut out of fear of the Crolr, or if they really don’t know.”

‘There’s a time lag in the transmission of information. . . If Anima-nim is aiming for the Greater Magellanic Cloud, then the Crolr will already be fighting the Chimeraz there.’

Nazar speculated that far and hoped for a good outcome.

‘If the Crolr military that’s trying to invade the human galaxy crossed paths with Anima-nim’s group. . . Anima-nim’s group will take the Large Magellanic Cloud while the Crolr’s military is away, and the Crolr will attack humanity while the UNF fleet is away. That would be a good situation.’

“It’s not a bad situation, if the Crolr really is targeting us humans.”

For a moment, Nazar wondered if his thoughts had been read.

However, it seemed strange for Darwin, a human, to say that it wouldn’t be bad if the Crolr invaded humanity.

“The humans are at war with the Chimeraz, and now they might have to face the Crolr too. Wouldn’t that be the worst possible situation for humanity?”

“Actually, it would be better if things got that extreme.”

“Darwin. I can’t understand your human way of thinking at all.”

“Then let me ask you this.”

“What?”

“If the Crolr were to attack humanity right now, while the UNF’s main force is gone, what do you think would happen to humanity’s future?”

“You wouldn’t be wiped out, but you would suffer damages on that scale. Even if humanity were to win against the Crolr, your race wouldn’t stand idly by while hundreds of billions died.”

“The humans must know that, as well as I do. In the end, what I’m saying is that it would be too much for humanity to handle the Crolr on top of everything else, in this situation and at this timing. So the humans would have no choice but to seek help from something that isn’t human.”

Nazar asked, sounding like he was warning him.

“Do you mean that the Vehlpciaarct or the Aooa would help the humans against your race?”

“The Aooa are an exception when it comes to war, but the Vehlpciaarct would help humanity if the situation got dire.”

“Then the Vehlpciaarct would perish with humanity.”

“Do you really think your master would make such a simple judgment?”

“He would, if they had to.”

“Then wouldn’t the Chimeraz become the second Crolr?”

The humans and the Crolr fight, and the humans win.

The weakened humans are attacked by the Chimeraz.

The weakened humans ask Vehlpciaarct for help.

What would be left if the Chimeraz were to harm Vehlpciaarct and humanity?

“It would be an endless war. After all, wars between races don’t just end with the two races involved. Just like how the humans are close to the Vehlpciaarct, the Vehlpciaarct might also be close to some other races.”
