The Magic of “Analysis” Sees Through Everything – Chapter 145

The morning of the second day on Osten Island was a cloudless, clear day.

The village, dyed orange by the morning mist, was still in a slumber, but you could see children with baskets walking down the street.

“Did you and your sister come from the mainland?”

“Is it true that people from the mainland can fly in the sky?”

“No way! We’re all living inside the walls because of the war with the demons!”

“If you meet a demon, they’ll cut off your tongue, right?”

“Are you two married?”

The children, full of curiosity, flocked around Luke and Alma.

“Hey, hey, don’t ask all at once. You’re bothering Onii-chan.”

Kiel came over as they were wondering what to do.

“Ah, Kiel-neechan, you’re early today.”

“Hey, hey, Kiel-neechan, do you know this Onii-chan?”

“Could it be your boyfriend?”

“Stupid, Kiel-neechan has Errant-san.”

“Is Kiel-neechan going to marry Errant-san?”

“Shut up. You brats. Where are you going so early in the morning?”

Kiel rubbed her fist against the head of the boy in front of her.

However, contrary to her words, a calm expression was on her face, completely different from the one she showed last night.

“Ouch, that hurts. We’re going to collect shells. Today, a merchant from the mainland is coming, so we’re going to sell them.”

“I see, be careful. There might still be demon beasts roaming the beach in the morning.”

“We know that! Kiel-neechan, if you cheat, Errant-san will scold you!”

“You’re noisy! Go on!”

The children ran off towards the beach, waving their hands at Kiel and joking around.

“Really, those kids. . . Is something wrong? Is there something on my face?”

Kiel, who had been watching the children with a wry smile, turned back to Luke with a curious look on her face.

“No, I was just thinking that it’s good to see you’ve cheered up.”

“. . .I’m sorry about yesterday. I ruined the welcome party.”

Kiel bowed her head apologetically.

“We’re not worried about that. It seems like this island has some deep issues. Errant did most of the talking yesterday, but I’d like to hear your story too, Kiel.”

It wasn’t that he was concerned about Errant’s words from yesterday, but he thought it was important to hear about the island from various perspectives at this point.

“Are you worried about what Errant said yesterday? If so, don’t worry. We’ll solve the island’s problems together, so you guys just enjoy yourselves.”

Kiel turned back to Luke with a cheerful smile.

“I came here today to show you around the island. It’s a small island, but it has a history and some pretty good views.”

Luke and Alma were being shown around various attractions on the island by Kiel.

There was a beautiful waterfall that always had a rainbow, a lake where hundreds and thousands of colorful glowing jellyfish swam, huge trees that were hundreds of years old and brightly colored birds and strange beasts, all of which were new to Luke.

“Amazing. . . I’ve never seen anything like this before. Even the plants that I’ve seen on the mainland seem to change their shape here.”

Luke plucked a fruit about the size of a fist from a tree in front of him.

“This is a vine fig. In the Kingdom of Arrogas, it only grows to about the size of a thumb, but here it grows this big.”

He muttered in admiration and took a big bite.

“And the sweetness is completely different. If I brought this to St. Arrogas, it would be very popular.”

“Really, it’s delicious! I used to eat vine figs a lot when I was a kid, but they didn’t taste like this. Sicily would be delighted if I told her.”

Alma also took a bite and was surprised, her eyes wide open.

“Is that so? Here, it’s just a snack for kids.”

“Really, if it’s this delicious, I think it would be very popular. I thought so at the banquet last night too, but all the fruits that are harvested on this island are very delicious. If they were made into products, I’m sure they would be popular.”

“I’d be happy if that were the case. The merchants who come to this island are only interested in magic stones, so there’s no one who pays attention to such things.”

Kiel shrugged her shoulders and walked through the forest.

The three of them were heading towards the mountain.

“Would you like me to introduce someone who might be interested? A merchant in St. Arrogas.”

“I’d appreciate it. I’d be more than happy to have an income other than magic stones. . . and, here we are. This is the most mysterious place on the island.”

The place Kiel led them to was at the foot of a cliff beyond the forest.

Above was a towering cliff, and in front of them was a cave decorated with countless colorful cloths.

“This is a sacred place for the Kranken clan. It is said that this is where the goddess once sealed the divine beast Kraken. The back of this cave is a forbidden area, and only the chief of the village is allowed to enter.”

“Divine beast Kraken. . .”

Luke swallowed hard without realizing it.

It was a fearsome divine beast that appeared in legends, said to have many tentacles and even prey on dragons.

The cave said to have sealed that Kraken was gaping in front of him.

“Luke, do you feel anything?”

“No. . . I’m not sure.”

Luke, who shook his head at Alma’s fearful question, picked up a small stone that had fallen at his feet.

“It’s true that high-purity magic stones are mined on this island, even these stones around here contain a small amount of magic stone. But it seems to make it difficult to detect magical power because of that.”

Kiel also picked up a small stone at her feet and threw it towards the cliff.

“Yes, it is said that the reason why this island continues to produce magic stones is because the two divine beasts sleeping here are still producing magic stones. And I am a shrine maiden with the role of sealing those divine beasts.”
