“. . . . . . So, the town was saved by the Sword Saint’s actions, huh? A happy ending indeed.”

“Yes, that’s right!”

Worn and battered, I returned to town and went to receive treatment from Rin, as I usually do after making a reservation. While there, I was subjected to Rin’s endless chatter about the recent battle, or rather, about the Sword Saint’s heroics.

The look on Rin’s face was unmistakable.

It was the same look people called “otaku” have when they talk about their favorite actors or actresses.

Apparently, Rin has become enamored with the Sword Saint.

Well, kids are often influenced and inspired by tales of heroes.

I was like that, and so was Stella. Especially when you witness such heroics right before your eyes, it’s no surprise to be taken in like this.

“Guess what! I’ve been scouted by Blade-sama and I’m going to the royal capital of Sirius Kingdom! It’s an unexpected promotion!”

“Oh, really?”

Sirius Kingdom is the homeland of both me and Stella, and it is the largest nation of humanity.

Moreover, it is a country that is said to have consistently had all the legendary heroes as its members.

Naturally, our current hero, Stella, is no exception. She is incredibly powerful, entrusted with the role of humanity’s hope, and the country boasts unparalleled strength compared to other nations.

That old knight and Blade, who captivated Rin, are also affiliated with Sirius Kingdom.

For heroes, there are the two Sword Saints.

Furthermore, there are numerous heroes with divine protection, and as many outstanding officers as there are stars.

The Holy God Church to which Rin belongs has also been incorporated as the state religion of that country. Sirius Kingdom is truly a superpower that concentrates the military might of humanity into one point.

Even if Rin has divine protection, being promoted to such a nation’s capital is indeed a major step up.

Normally, this would be shocking news, but my reaction is more like, “I figured as much.”

Probably, my memory wasn’t wrong.

“So, as soon as I’m prepared, I’ll be leaving this town.”

“Coincidentally, I’m also planning to head to my next destination soon. I’ve accomplished what I came here to do.”

“Then even more reason! You can’t be reckless assuming I’ll be around to heal you!”

“Right, I’ll keep that in mind.”

That means my bonus time of instant healing and training is over.

From now on, I’ll be back to the pace I had before meeting Rin.

I’ll heal minor injuries on my own.

When I reach a town, I’ll seek out a local healer for more serious issues.

All set then.

“I feel like you’re misunderstanding me. . . . . . I meant, please try not to get injured. . . . . .”

“Don’t worry, I get it.”

I’ll avoid fatal injuries, so there’s no problem.

“So. . . . . .where do you plan to go next?”

“First off, 『Dwarf Village』. I want to ask them to adjust some items I’ve acquired.”

“Ah, they say only skilled Dwarves can modify Magic items.”

“That’s the idea.”

Dwarves are known for their dexterity and craftsmanship.

Their chief, the world’s greatest craftsman, commonly known as 『God of War』, can even forge a legendary Holy Sword if provided with the materials.

This time, the Sword Saint Skeleton’s kimono turned out to be more useful than expected, so I plan to make it my official gear.

But I’ll likely also need adjustments for other items I’ll acquire in the future.

It’s common to end up with Magic items that don’t fit properly.

Dwarves can fix that.

If possible, I’d like to meet the God of War at some point during my visits.

Well, if it happens, it happens.

“Alright, looks like I’m all healed up, so I’m off.”

“Ah, okay. . . . . .We may never meet again, but take care.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that. I have a feeling we’ll meet again soon.”

“Huh?”

“See you later.”

“What?! What do you mean?!”

Ignoring Rin’s outburst, I left the church.

All my belongings are in the Magic Bag, so I headed straight for the stagecoach station and boarded a carriage going in the direction of my destination.

Coincidentally, there was a request at the Adventurer’s Guild to escort this very stagecoach, so not only did I get to ride for free, but I’ll also get paid for it.

The catch is that if we’re attacked by monsters or thieves along the way, I have to fight, which is fine by me.

My next destination, Dwarf Village, is a hidden village inside a certain mountain.

Obviously, there’s no stagecoach that goes all the way there, so once I get close, I’ll have to walk the rest of the way.

And then, taking advantage of the mountainous terrain, I’ll have to battle monsters while making the climb.

It’s going to be a good training experience.

And so, my journey continues.

◆◆◆

Many things have happened since then.

I’ve traveled to various places.

Starting with Dwarf Village, I’ve ventured into storm-ravaged mountain ranges, bottomless labyrinths that resemble hell, war zones against the Demon King’s Army, and even into territories controlled by demons.

In every place I go, I fight, hone my skills, and acquire equipment to become stronger.

As I kept doing these things. . . . . .three years have passed since I parted ways with Rin, and five years since I left my hometown.

This year, Stella finally departs as the hero.

It has come again.

The time of destiny.

This time, I will definitely win.

I’ll win and secure a future with Stella.

With renewed unwavering resolve, I, alone, set my sights on the royal capital of Sirius Kingdom.
