Stephan looks at me.
I feel a shiver run down my spine at his fawning gaze.
“Listen, Chloe. I don’t ask much of you. Just keep working as my wife as you have been, and do as you please. So please, come back.”
Next to Stephan, Owenna’s face is beet red, ready to explode at any moment.

“I’m sorry. I will not withdraw the divorce.”

“I am now taking care of precious children here in Heyerdahl. This is where I belong.”
