Within the wreckage, Marie confronts the Sorcerer King.

A fist is pierced through Kyūbi’s abdomen.
Marie looks back to find a black-haired boy there.
ㅤ
He’s casually dressed in a white kimono.
His eyes are as sharp as a bird of prey.
ㅤ
He lifts the corner of his mouth, revealing an evil smile.
Those red eyes are directed at Kyūbi.
ㅤ
“You got in my way.”
ㅤ
His eyes show clear anger.
The Sorcerer King, Abeno Haruakira, withdraws his arm.
ㅤ
Severely injured, Kyūbi collapses onto the ground.
Looking down on her like a worthless insect, the Sorcerer King speaks.
ㅤ
“I want to fight strong enemies, and you interrupted that.”
“But. . . . . .Sorcerer King, you. . . . . .became stronger. . . . . .to resurrect your mother. . . . . .”

Crushing Kyūbi underfoot, the Sorcerer King shows no emotion.
ㅤ
He killed it because it was an insect in his way. That seems to be all there is to it.

“What I desire is a battle to the death with the strong. Nothing else matters.”

What a self-centered man, Marie thinks.

She feels he’s somewhat similar to her.

“Witch, I’ve been waiting for you.”

His expression changes from the one he had for Kyūbi.
The Sorcerer King laughs, genuinely pleased.
ㅤ
“I’ve been looking forward to killing you, who’s slain the Four Heavenly Kings and mastered sorcery on your own.”
“Hmm. . . . . .”

Marie applies a healing spell to Kyūbi, who lies on the ground like a ragged mop.

An overwhelming pressure emanates from the Sorcerer King’s body.
It shakes the air and frightens the surrounding yokai into fainting.

“It’s been a long time since I had a fight that promises to be fun.”

On the other hand, Marie quietly gathers her magical power.
ㅤ
“It seems like our personalities don’t match. A battle without food isn’t enjoyable at all, not even by a millimeter.”
