If you played as Alicia, there was a daily academy quest to read in the library. As a reward, you would gain a small amount of experience for the Spirit and Intelligence stats.

Unlike ordinary games, 「Final Chapter」 was a game where you leveled up by gaining experience for the stats themselves rather than leveling up by gaining levels. That’s why Fate Points were so valuable.

A short while later, Oswald arrived at the library, showed his student ID, and entered.

“Is that true?”

“Shh, don’t get excited yet since it’s not certain. But for now, you need to come with me.”

At Oswald’s words, Alicia immediately closed her book and stood up.

“We’ll split the reward 50-50.”

“What? Is the reward your goal?”

For her, who was a righteous person, chasing after a notorious serial killer for a reward was an incomprehensible act.

“I’ve been kicked out of my house. . . I need money to return to the academy.”

“Hmm. . . Okay, but I don’t need the reward.”

In other words, she was saying that Oswald could have all the reward money. Oswald had expected this, so he didn’t show much reaction.

“But how did you find out?”

Oswald gave a vague answer and led her to the outskirts of the Nobles’ District. It was an area where mostly single nobles lived in small mansions.

“Jack the Ripper is a noble?”

“Yes, he’s Dorian Gray, the inspector of the Central Sword (a position between a knight and a baron).”

“An inspector of the Sword is Jack the Ripper? Can you prove that?”

“We’ll know if we check his house.”

“You want to break into an inspector’s house right now without any evidence?”

“Why, is it against your morals?”

“Let me ask you one thing. Is it more important to catch a murderer or to commit home invasion?”

Alicia couldn’t answer. It must have been because it went against her beliefs.

“Fine. If we go in and find nothing, I’ll turn myself in and accept the punishment.”

“But if you do that, you’ll be expelled from the academy, not just suspended.”

“I didn’t plan on returning anyway.”

With those words, Oswald climbed over the fence of the mansion and entered. Alicia, who had been watching his back, reluctantly followed him over the fence.

As soon as she climbed over the fence, she witnessed Oswald ripping the doorknob off with his brute force and opening the door.

A moment later, the two of them entered the house and saw a very tidy interior. It was as if the person living there had OCD, with everything in perfect order and not a speck of dust to be seen. . .

Oswald knew where his showroom was, but it would have been even more suspicious if he had gone straight to it, so he began to ransack the house as if he were searching for something.

Alicia didn’t like what he was doing, but. . . it was already too late to turn back, so she helped him search.

After searching for a while, he found it.

Oswald shouted to Alicia that he had found a passage leading to the basement through the closet in the bedroom.

“Here! Here’s a passage to the basement!”

Surprised, she rushed into the bedroom and her face hardened when she saw the secret passage that Oswald had found. She had never imagined that such a place would exist.

The space they arrived at through the underground passage was shocking.

A female body made by sewing together various parts of the human body was on display in the center, and glass bottles containing various organs preserved in fluid could also be seen around it.

“Ugh. . .”

Alicia suppressed the nausea rising from her stomach and trembled with anger.

Alicia then used the intercom in the house to identify herself and report this to the Sword.

The Sword officers immediately dispatched and were soon enraged by the shocking scene. They were disgusted that the criminal was an inspector who had been eating at the same table with them and watching the overall situation of the investigation.

The two people who had made such a great contribution received 700 gold out of the 1,000 gold reward after deducting the 30% income tax.

“As promised, you can have all the reward. . .”

“Yes.”

“Rather than that. . . When are you planning to return to the academy?”

“Well. . . . . .”

Alicia poured out her honest feelings to Oswald, who seemed to have no plans.
