Limited Time, Kitchen Maid of the Fourth Knight Order ~I Got a Job Because I Don’t Want to Get Married~ – Chapter 86

After delivering Marina and Thor to the room, we returned to the dormitory. Chris quickly prepared some tea and light snacks, and we all sat on the sofa.

“A collar of submission, huh. Arthur, Rene, well done. We’ve now got a lead on Dyson.”

Until now, we’ve been probing Dyson’s objectives and weaknesses, but to no avail. Since it was concluded that Dyson hadn’t reached out to the school, this is a significant development.

“With so many heirs and heiresses around, I thought something might be up. . . but to think, Dyson was just about to start making moves here.”

Edgardo, having had his tea, looked worried.

In the silence where each gathered their thoughts, Rene spoke up firmly.

“. . .Could it be the opposite?”

“Opposite of what?”

“I can’t imagine Dyson, who has been restricted and watched, having the leeway to take on more. Him making suspicious moves to create an opening? His goal has always been singular.”

All eyes turned to Roa-sama.

“Knowing he wasn’t in the royal castle and searching for likely hiding places, he turned his attention to the school. It’s unclear whether he’s certain that his target is here or if he’s searching elsewhere too. One thing is clear: the school is no longer safe.”

A heavy silence fell.

As much as we regretted the lack of clues at the school, the emerging danger was a bit frightening.

Rolf lightened the mood with his cheerful tone.

“We have learned something. If Dyson hasn’t targeted the school, it means the students are unrelated. If he had accomplices among them, he would have used the children as pawns. Hence, it’s likely that the nobles with children at the school are not allied with Dyson.”

“Rolf is right. As we suspected, Dyson probably surrounds himself with people his own age.”

Arthur was also upbeat.

Thanks to the two mood-makers, everyone’s expressions brightened.

“We should consult with my brother and request medicine to neutralize the poison emitted by the collar of submission. I’ve heard it’s almost complete. Thanks to the collar of submission Shiro left us.”

Arthur’s eyes sparkled with hope as he looked up abruptly.

“Then, is Shiro. . .”

“Yes. Safe.”

A cheer erupted.

That was truly a relief. . .!

Everyone had been worried, though they did not voice it in my presence. Arthur had been downcast, saying, “He would surely be vexed to know we were enjoying ramen.”

I heard they had a long-standing relationship, so his concern must have been considerable.

“The collar of submission seems to reveal the wearer’s location. Shiro fought off the pursuers one by one, and after deciding no more would come, he asked for instructions from my brother. I heard it took time to disable the location-tracking feature.”

If the location of the collar of submission is known, it could be targeted for a surprise attack. Since the study of the poison is also known, disabling the GPS feature must have been essential.

“Though unharmed, the weakened Shiro had been asleep for a long time. He woke up last night, and since there were no anomalies, we received the report.”

Roa-sama cheerfully smiled and said, “I thought Shiro would be fine.”

“Despite boasting about being okay with staying up all night or getting little sleep, once the crisis is over, he continues to sleep. Really, he hasn’t changed at all even after growing up. Later, let’s brag to Shiro that we ate ramen and fried chicken.”

Arthur nodded several times with the biggest smile ever.

“Will it cause blood tears again?”

“He was so frustrated that he couldn’t come to Alice’s place on the holiday.”

“It looks like he might start having bloody urine soon.”

Despite each saying whatever they pleased, their true affection for Shiro was evident.

“I’ll practice making seafood tsukemen for Wanko-sama, complete with char siu and marinated eggs! Since it’s Wanko-sama’s favorite flavor, I have to make it delicious.”

“Tsukemen? Is it something like ramen?”

“Yes. I want Wanko-sama to be the first to try it!”

Standing up to check the clock, it was already time for dinner.

“While Roa-sama contacts his elder brother, I’ll go ahead and make a ramen, gyoza, and fried rice set.”

Excitedly heading to the kitchen, I prepare dinner together with Chris.

“It was really a relief. Everyone said that Wanko-sama would be fine, but I didn’t know how strong Wanko-sama was, so I was worried.”

“Shiro-sama is strong indeed. In a situation like this, he’s the most suitable.”

It’s hard to imagine the always-smiling, cute-faced Shiro surviving in the wild.

“Shiro-sama has an excellent sense of smell for distinguishing enemies, so he immediately knows if there’s a surprise attack. He can hide in bushes and holes that even young lords would hesitate to enter, unaffected by short sleep.”

“And then he makes up for it by sleeping to recover when he can.”

“Yes. Once he slept for about a week straight, and when he woke up, he didn’t know our worries and just complained about being hungry.”

Chris also had a gentler expression than usual.

“With this, Dyson’s allies must have significantly decreased. Shiro-sama has really done something amazing.”
