Limited Time, Kitchen Maid of the Fourth Knight Order ~I Got a Job Because I Don’t Want to Get Married~ – Chapter 4

A week after submitting the documents, I arrived at the royal castle for the second time, carrying a surprisingly small amount of luggage for a noble’s daughter.

After placing my belongings in the overly magnificent house, I open the back door of the Knights’ dormitory. I want to check various things before starting work tomorrow.

“Amazing, it’s full of magic! The utensils are so tiny!”

The matching utensils are magically miniaturized and stored, and can be retrieved by touching a specific spot. They come with heat insulation and cooling functions, and all of them are enchanted to repel poison. I can’t help but get excited.

“When I get back, I’ll tell Thor abo. . .I can’t! Confidentiality!”

While reading the instruction manual for the food prep machine that I’ve named “Prep-kun,” I immediately try putting in a potato.

A translucent window appears in mid-air, and I timidly touch the word “Peel.” After my magical power is registered, the potato’s skin starts to peel off.

If I then choose to finely slice it, in less than a second, the potato is neatly sliced and appears in a container.

“Amazing. . .You’re amazing, Prep-kun! I’ll definitely become dependent on you!”

While happily holding the potato and dancing, I hear voices approaching from a distance. I stop moving and straighten up.

Playing Mime Mime again was fun, but I can’t let others see it. Thor, who’s overly protective of his sisters, didn’t like it, so strangers would probably find it suspicious.

The man who emerges from the open door has an eerily well-organized face.

Blonde hair, blue eyes, a high nose, and silky hair framing cool-looking eyes. He’s tall and well-built, wearing the Knights’ uniform. I’m stunned by his good looks. Goosebumps.

“I apologize for entering without knocking. I sensed someone was here. . .Are you Miss Alice Norchev, who will be working here starting tomorrow?”

“I apologize for not greeting you first. I’m Alice Norchev.”

“Since you’re starting work tomorrow, don’t worry about it. Are you taking a tour of the workplace?”

“Yes, I was taking a tour to ensure a smooth start to my work.”

“Please feel free to use anything. It’s all yours now. . .Starting tomorrow, huh.”

I wonder if I should ask him something. His extreme handsomeness gives me a feeling of rejection and goosebumps.

Somehow, I manage to take shallow breaths and speak while looking down at the ground.

“Is something bothering you?”

“The members noticed the presence of someone and are excited that they can have lunch here starting today.”

Ah, that puts me in a difficult position.

I only know how to cook commoner food and a few cooking tricks; I’m nowhere near a professional.

It’s my job to acclimate people accustomed to gourmet food to simpler meals. That’s why I took this job. Because that’s what was wanted of me.

But if the members are expecting meals, then I have no choice.

“I can only make simple dishes, but if that’s okay, I will prepare them.”

“But you’re starting work tomorrow, right?”

His voice seems considerate, but it also implies that there’s no way his opinion won’t be accepted by someone of lower status.

“There’s no bread today, so it will be rice. It’s seasoned in the style of a far eastern country, if that’s alright.”

“Thank you. I’ll let everyone know.”

I felt the presence of a handsome guy leaving and slumped down on the floor.

I was prepared for the nobles to be good-looking, but I didn’t expect that many stunners. I’ll probably get used to their faces after seeing them a few times, but now’s not the time to think about that.

I muster up some energy and stand up.

The Fourth Knight Order has 10 members in total, and I need to hurry if I want to make it in time.

I flip my cumbersome dress and first put the rice into a dedicated container. I select rice on the handy cooker and press the start cooking button.

Next, I take a chunk of beef and onions from the giant fridge and leave them to the prep machine. I decide to make an easy egg soup for the soup.

“Choosing beef bowl at a time like this, I’m really not suited to be a chef for nobles, huh.”

In the automatic frying pan, I toss in beef coated with flour, onions, and garlic, and let the prep machine add the eggs. Once it scrambles them, I pour it into the bubbling pot.

“Ah, maybe I should also add some leafy greens to the soup.”

The prep machine is super handy. It can wash, heat, and cut multiple vegetables quickly.

I had some trouble with the seasoning for the beef bowl, but I decided to go for a strong garlic flavor rather than a sweeter one that appeals to everyone. I mix in soy sauce, mirin, and some Chinese-style seasoning. It’s very Japanese, but I hope it’s okay. . .

It was popular in my household anyway. Besides, I got a promise from that handsome guy earlier.

The rice finishes cooking just as the door opens. A group with dazzling faces enters. I brace myself for a moment but just bow and take out the rice.

Just a beef bowl and soup. No side dishes, just hearty men’s food.

I’ve done all I could in the limited time, so I have no regrets.

“I couldn’t make anything fancy, but please feel free to have some. Today’s menu is a beef bowl. I’ll set them over here, so please help yourselves.”

The place is set up like a counter kitchen, with an area that practically screams “put stuff here.”

I quickly mix the rice and put it into the bowls, topping them generously. Next to them, I place the soup, and voila, it turns into something akin to a stylish Yoshinoya.

“Is this what you call a beef bowl?”

“Yes. I made commoner’s food as per our agreement.”

The handsome guy from earlier hesitates but eventually picks up a tray with a beef bowl on it. One by one, other handsome guys with different vibes pick up trays too.

My heart races as I serve the beef bowls, and suddenly, the atmosphere changes.

“Wha. . .no way, this is delicious!”

The voice came from a knight with light pink hair, small in stature but cute.

“It’s surprisingly good despite its appearance!”

I’m smiled at by an angelic face. I quickly look away and bow my head to disguise my reaction.

“Thank you. We have seconds as well, so please don’t hesitate to ask.”

I decided to retreat to the kitchen for now. Being around a ton of handsome guys is bad for my heart.
