I Became the Academy’s Genius Shikigami Summoner – Chapter 3.1

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟑

「𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙.」

Seo Ji-an, the daughter of the largest shareholder of Dae-jin Industries, which is at the heart of the South Korean industry today.

She was lost in thought, reflecting on the events that had occurred to her just an hour ago.

「𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣?」

Seo Ji-an clearly remembers Han Kang-yoon’s appearance last year.

A hard worker who was disappointed with himself for being demoted from A-class and tried to climb back up. However, his grades did not improve, and he eventually suffered the misfortune of being demoted to D-class due to the gap that had developed.

That was the extent of her impression of him.

「𝙃𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡.」

As the saying goes, a position shapes a person, and Seo Ji-an, who had grown up within the large corporation Dae-jin Industries, was confident that she had a good eye for people.

However, Seo Ji-an had not felt anything special about her classmate Han Kang-yoon.

In the end, all she remembered was that he was just a very sincere student.

「𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩.」

It felt like she was looking at a different person.

Remembering Han Kang-yoon, who had found out her hidden training ground and come to her with an unexpected proposal, she let out an unusually deep sigh.

“Nothing was as expected. . . . . . .”

Seo Ji-an, who had developed the habit of biting her nails a long time ago, quickly continued her thoughts.

「𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙮. . . . . ., 𝙣𝙤, 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙮.」

Seo Ji-an had no choice but to accept Han Kang-yoon’s request. Han Kang-yoon also seemed to know this.

“. . . . . .I don’t like it.”

He couldn’t help but think that he was just playing her.

「𝙄𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙧𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚-𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙚? 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙤 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝘿-𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨?」

Until now, no one had noticed Han Kang-yoon’s true nature. Because the whole process was so natural and genuine.

「𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨.」

Seo Ji-an had been personally analyzing and observing all the figures within the academy, but this was the first time she had encountered someone she couldn’t see through.

Growing up in an environment where she was always threatened and had to thirst for information accordingly, Seo Ji-an was beginning to feel a vague sense of fear at the current situation that was beyond her control.

「𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙠𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙. 𝘽𝙪𝙩. . . . . . .」

She couldn’t complain. After all, she was in an absolutely advantageous position.

Seo Ji-an had a reason to study nature-type spells, no matter what happened.

「𝙁𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙜𝙤.」

If Han Kang-yoon was really a dangerous being, he wouldn’t be attending school safely like this.

No matter what anyone said, this was Cheonghwa Academy, known as the future of Korea. It was not a place to be taken lightly in many ways.

There is a saying that a crisis is also an opportunity.

Seo Ji-an felt that now was the time.

「𝙏𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙪𝙩.」

Siblings who constantly tried to hold her back, third parties who tried to take advantage of her in some way, and even her own father, the largest shareholder of Dae-jin Industries, who had no humanity.

All of them were obstacles and enemies that Seo Ji-an had to overcome.

「𝙄𝙛 𝙃𝙖𝙣 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙜-𝙮𝙤𝙤𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩, 𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤𝙤. . . . . . .」

Her face darkened as she thought of her younger sister, Seo Ji-ha, who was born with something she didn’t want and barely survived at the cost of astronomical sums of money.

🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

「𝙏𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨.」

I returned to the dormitory, breathing heavily and running my hands through my hair.

Of course, I was confident, so I went all in, but Seo Ji-an’s specs were beyond my expectations.

「𝙎𝙚𝙤 𝙅𝙞-𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝘽, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝, 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙨𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝘼, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮?」

Moreover, judging from the original story, they are probably just entering their growth period.

With Han Kang-yoon’s specs, which are only those of an extra, he might fall behind at some point in the future story. There was definitely a long way to go.

「𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙬𝙖𝙮, 𝙄 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚.」

That my current specs are severely lacking.

The one-second spell deployment I used against Seo Ji-an’s magic, whose talent I don’t even know properly yet.

「𝙄𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙛 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩?」

I had expected it, but it was a desperate situation.

If Seo Ji-an had not hesitated and repeated her magic attacks, I would have already been torn to shreds like a piece of paper and would not exist in this world.

“Status window.”

【Han Kang-yoon】

▶Level 24

▶Ability Scores

【Stamina: C-】

【Spiritual power : D】

【Mental Strength: C】

▶Trait(s)(2/10)

【Mental Spellbook(B)】

It’s pathetic.

It’s pathetic no matter how you look at it.

“No, it’s more strange than that.”

To discuss the uniqueness of my ability scores, I first need to explain how the ability scores are calculated in this game called exorcism.

「𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚.」

However, ability scores were different.

In the High School Exorcism series, ability scores were not simply something that increased as your level went up. They were separate factors.

「𝙎𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙪𝙩, 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙚𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙚.」

To explain using my spiritual power ability score as an example, the output of spiritual power that can be used is the total amount of spiritual power generated by supplying fuel (level 24) to an engine (D-rank efficiency).

「𝙊𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙪𝙥, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙, 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙬, 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙬. 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙩.」

In the end, level and ability scores interact. It’s not efficient to have only one of them high. That’s why ability scores, which are heavily influenced by talent, become even more important.
