Ch 37: What Am I Doing Here? Is This Still The Southern Domain?
Western Territory,
Wood Town,
A loud bang broke the silence of this town with only a few hundred people,
“What’s happening? Are the Torment Beasts attacking again?”
“Holy Spirit protect us, Holy Spirit protect us…”
“Quick, go inform Baron Reiser!”
Following the sound, everyone arrived at a dilapidated church, with the words “Trinity Church” hanging above it.
It was a small wooden structure church, appearing to have not been repaired for a long time.
Villagers and guards who rushed over upon hearing the news pushed the door open, revealing a gaping hole in the church’s roof and a blood-stained man lying quietly amidst the mess.
Inside the church, three nuns were gathered around the sudden intruder. One of the elders, upon seeing everyone arrive, said:
“He is dying, he needs healing.”
Hearing this, the guards stopped the onlookers and said, “Everything will be decided after the Baron arrives.”
Time ticked by, and Grandma Lisa, the elder nun, continuously cast simple Healing Techniques on the unconscious Xia Jiuyuan, but the effect was clearly not good.
The young, clear-featured nun beside her stared at the severely damaged Xia Jiuyuan with disbelief, her hands trembling slightly.
The young nun truly did not expect the prophesied person to descend from the sky, and her mood was quite complex.
She glanced at the four intact items remaining on Xia Jiuyuan’s body.
Two Model Swords, a bracelet, and a necklace.
The last one, a young girl nun, scanned Xia Jiuyuan’s entire body with curiosity, her large eyes sparkling with pure innocence.
“Oh, my heavens!”
An ostentatious voice emerged, and the villagers quickly lowered their heads to make way. The three nuns all wore expressions of disgust.
“The Trinity Church has finally suffered Divine Retribution…”
A stout man dressed in opulent clothing walked forward. He examined Xia Jiuyuan’s body a few times.
“Seriously injured? I, Baron Reiser, love to help others the most. Someone, take him to me for treatment!”
With that, a few guards stepped forward, preparing to carry Xia Jiuyuan away. Grandma Lisa’s brows furrowed; she knew what kind of person Baron Reiser was.
Treacherous, Lecherous, and Greedy!
Baron Reiser would not spend a significant Price to treat a stranger. He would definitely take Xia Jiuyuan away today, confiscate his belongings, and then discard his body the next day.
But the problem was, she herself was completely unable to do anything about Xia Jiuyuan’s injuries. Leaving him here would undoubtedly lead to his death. It was better to send him to the Baron to try his Luck, in case the Baron had a change of heart.
Just as the guards were about to touch Xia Jiuyuan’s body, the young nun suddenly stood up and shouted:
“No!”
Lisa quickly pulled the young nun back and reprimanded her, “Dean!”
“Grandma Lisa, this person fell here, such a coincidence. What if this is a divine instruction? We cannot stand by and do nothing.
Don’t we have that Divine Art? Let us use the Divine Art to save him!”
Divine Art? Where did that Divine Art come from? How did she not know?
Lisa looked at Dean, who kept making eye contact with her, and understood her meaning. She sighed.
“Baron Reiser, please leave. This person will be saved by us.”
Hearing this, Baron Reiser’s expression turned from pleased to displeased. “Please leave? Please clarify, I am the Lord here!”
“We are the Trinity Church!”
The Trinity Church was the Governing Organization of the Eastern Territory. To promote exchange and integration among the Three Realms of Humanity, the high-level officials of each territory had long ago established relevant Policies.
Among them, the Western Territory allowed the Trinity Church of the Eastern Territory to build churches in their Territory.
Therefore, the Trinity Church had a certain degree of autonomy and did not fully obey the local Lord.
“So what? I say this person is a Wanted Criminal of the Kingdom, are you going to harbor him?”
Lisa said indifferently, “Give me his wanted poster, and I will hand the person over to you.”
Baron Reiser became even more enraged. The Trinity Church was publicly disrespecting him in his own Territory, but he was restricted by the Kingdom’s Policies and dared not do anything to them.
“This is my Territory, and I have the right to investigate anyone!”
“Yes, Your Excellency Baron, but this person did not enter your Territory from the Borderline; he came from the sky.
We believe this is related to our Deity. After we heal him and gather relevant information, you can investigate him as you please.
If you have any objections, you can report it to our Bishop.”
“You—”
Baron Reiser pointed at Lisa, unable to speak.
“Then, that’s it, please leave!”
“We’ll see.”
Grandma Lisa drove everyone away with her sharp tongue. She rubbed her temples. “Now our lives will be even harder.”
Indeed, on the surface, the Trinity Church could defy the Baron and appear glorious, but judging from its dilapidated state, it was clear they were not doing well.
The higher-ups agreed to the establishment of the Trinity Church, but the individual Lords below were unwilling to have the Trinity Church in their Territories.
Thus, they established their own church called the Holy Spirit Cult, then doubled the Taxes within their territory, and subsequently announced that people who prayed at the Holy Spirit Cult would have their Taxes halved.
With this back and forth, it meant that only those in the Trinity Church had to pay double Taxes, so no one was willing to come to the Trinity Church!
Currently, within the entire Trinity Church, there was only Grandma Lisa as a nun, while Dean and Na’er were novice nuns.
“This Baron Reiser is a complete scoundrel.”
Dean cursed, “He’ll be overthrown sooner or later!”
“Sigh, Dean, let’s not talk about that for now. You want me to keep this man, but how should I treat him? We don’t know any Divine Arts.”
Dean glanced around, took out a Pill from her embrace, and laughed awkwardly at Lisa, “Grandma, I found a Divine Medicine; we can try giving it to him.”
Faced with such an obvious Lie, Lisa merely smiled.
This Dean, and Na’er… neither of them were simple individuals!
Both of them had settled in this Town within the past year, their origins unknown.
Moreover, they insisted on joining the Trinity Church despite paying double Taxes, which was unreasonable.
And most crucially, they could not become official nuns!
Becoming an official nun was simple: be a novice nun for half a year, then pray before the image of the Deity in the church. As long as you sincerely wished to join the Trinity Church, you would receive a response.
But these two could not get a response, which made Lisa suspect the statue was faulty, but it wasn’t. Therefore, it could only be that the two of them were not sincere.
“Are you perhaps smitten with him, Dean?”
“Huh? How is that possible! Saving lives and healing the injured is what we should do, right, Na’er?”
Na’er, who had been silent beside them, smiled and nodded heavily.
“Yes.”
