“We can’t stay in front of the school building forever.”
Albero and Lapis have returned to Dormitory F. Looking at the dormitory, Lapis commented.
ㅤ
“It looks somewhat like a derelict house.”
“. . . . . .”
“I, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to. . . . . .”
“I, It’s fine.”
ㅤ
Albero somehow understood. Lapis is a bit oblivious.
Inside the dormitory, there’s a common room, and a corridor that separates the boys’ rooms from the girls’ rooms.
On the table in the common room, there’s a note from Garnet saying, 『Lapis’ belongings have been moved to Room 1』.
ㅤ
“Room 1?”
“The first room in the girls’ section. Over there. . . . . .Well, it can’t be helped. I’ll show you around the dormitory. It’s not very big, so let’s do it now.”
“I apologize. . . . . .My grandmother decided on her own.”
“Well, she is one of the twenty-one summoners, so this is the least. . . . . .Isn’t the Duke family saying anything?”
“They don’t need me.”
“What. . . . . .?”
“It’s nothing. My family is fine. Also, the Fragment family wouldn’t go against what my grandmother decided.”
“I, II see.”
ㅤ
Albero felt he shouldn’t pry further.
As the third son of a frontier Baron, Albero had no way of knowing the hardships or circumstances of Lapis from the Duke family in the capital. Moreover, he didn’t want to know.
ㅤ
“Alright, let’s start the tour.”
“Okay!”
ㅤ
He showed her the central common room, the dining hall connected from the common room, separate baths and toilets for men and women, the boys’ dormitory, and then the girls’ dormitory.
He led her up to Room 1, and Lapis opened the door.
Inside, the room was filled with expensive-looking furnishings and furniture.
The bed, closet, sofa, table. . . . . .Just one piece of furniture seemed like it could cover several months of living expenses for the Rushout family.
Returning to the common room, Albero began a serious conversation.
ㅤ
“Just to confirm, you’re really going to stay here?”
“Yes. I spoke with my grandmother. She told me that you are an S-class summoner, a special rank recognized by the nation. . . . . .and that you’re looking for fellow S-class members.”
“I’m not exactly ‘looking’ for anyone.”
ㅤ
According to Meteore, anyone can be appointed as an S-class.
However, Albero had no intention of using this privilege for anyone at the moment.
ㅤ
“Also, if you’re living here, you’ll have to do things on your own.”
“. . . . . .Do things on my own?”
ㅤ
As expected of a Duke family’s young lady, she doesn’t seem to get it.
ㅤ
“Listen, you’ll have to prepare your own meals, do your own laundry, and clean your own room. This includes cleaning the bathroom and toilet.”
“What about maids or servants?”
“We don’t have those here. This was originally Dormitory F. Being S-class doesn’t mean you’re special. For now, you’ll have to handle things on your own.”
“But. . . . . .I’ve never cooked or cleaned before.”
“If you don’t like it, you can go back home. . . . . .That’s how things are here.”
ㅤ
In the past, those who lived here had cleaning duties assigned to them.
They cleaned the baths and toilets, and both boys and girls took turns cleaning the common room and dining hall.
The Duke’s daughter, Lapis, probably never had to do things like cleaning or preparing meals, let alone bathing on her own.
There’s only so much Albero can help with.
ㅤ
“Let me make this clear. I’m the one in charge of this dormitory. Don’t go hiring a bunch of maids or servants to handle things.”
“Uh. . . . . .”
ㅤ
If Ratts and Laby and the others were still alive, they probably wouldn’t have thought this way. If the servants managed the dormitory, everyone would undoubtedly be pleased.
But now, it’s only Albero. He couldn’t forgive strangers trampling inside the dormitory with their shoes on.
To be honest, he’s not too thrilled about Lapis being here either.
ㅤ
“U, Understood! I’ll do my best! So, if you could teach me cleaning, cooking, and other various things. . . . . .”
“That much, huh? Well, let’s start with preparing the meal. Change and come to the kitchen.”
“Yes!”
ㅤ
Lapis and Albero return to their respective rooms.
ㅤ
◇◇◇◇◇◇
ㅤ
Lapis was even more clumsy than imagined.
ㅤ
“Um. . . . . .this potato.”
“. . . . . .Is this the core?”
“Eek!”
ㅤ
The peeled potato is just the core.
Albero ended up doing most of the tasks by himself, given that Lapis burnt the fried dishes and confused sugar with salt.
A simple dinner of sautéed vegetables, bread, and soup was prepared.
Then, Albero took his seat, and Lapis sat directly across from him.
ㅤ
“. . . . . .”
“Um? What’s wrong?”
“Ah, no. . . . . .well, let’s eat.”
“Yes!”
ㅤ
It had been a while since he dined with someone else.
The dining hall used to be bustling until recently. With just Lapis added, he felt warmth.
Albero scoops up some soup with his spoon.
ㅤ
“Wow, this is delicious!”
“Really? The meals at the Duke’s house must be tastier, right?”
“No, the meals at home are mostly greasy. . . . . .”
“Ah, they probably serve lots of meat, huh?”
“Yes! I don’t dislike meat, but once every five days is enough for me!”
ㅤ
Albero felt the unique struggles of a Duke’s daughter.
ㅤ
◇◇◇◇◇◇
ㅤ
After finishing cleaning up from dinner (again, Lapis was clumsy), it was free time.
Albero lay down on his bed and looked at his right arm.
ㅤ
“Mog. . . . . .what should I do?”
ㅤ
Lapis.
The Duke’s sickly daughter without friends. A summoner ranked in the upper B-class.
It was Garnet’s doing that she came to stay in the dormitory, but was this the right decision?
He still hasn’t heard Lapis’ intentions.
ㅤ
“A companion. . . . . .but losing them again. . . . . .”
ㅤ
He opens his right hand and clenches it.
If Lapis wishes. . . . . .to the S-class.
ㅤ
ㅤ
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!”
“What?!”
ㅤ
ㅤ
A sudden scream echoed.
Albero quickly got up and left his room.
Lapis’ scream—what happened?
The source of the scream was—unexpectedly the bathroom.
Without hesitation, Albero rushed in.
ㅤ
“Are you okay—What?!”
“Help. . . . . .please help!!”
ㅤ
Lapis was wrestling with a wild shower head. . . . . .completely naked.
Albero quickly turned his face away, but he had already seen the skin of a girl his age.
ㅤ
“What were you. . . . . .?”
“It. . . . . .it went crazy, and the hot water. . . . . .came out. . . . . .”
“It’s just a shower head. . . . . .turn the faucet.”
“Ohh. . . . . .”
“Honestly. . . . . .”
ㅤ
Albero, making sure not to look at Lapis, went into the bathroom and turned off the faucet.
The shower stopped, and they could finally catch their breath.
ㅤ
“I apologize. . . . . .for that.”
“W, Well. . . . . .yeah.”
“I, at the mansion, had the maids wash my hair and body, so. . . . . .this is my first time.”
“Oh, um. . . . . .that, my bad.”
ㅤ
The conversation doesn’t seem to end, making it hard to find the right moment to leave the bath.
It seems Lapis has forgotten to cover herself. Albero turns away.
ㅤ
“Well, don’t catch a cold.”
“Yes. Thank you so mu. . . . . .”
“Well, goodnight!!”
ㅤ
Lapis finally realizes she’s naked and turns pale.
Albero runs away.
ㅤ
“Kyaaaaaaaaahhh!!”
ㅤ
Lapis screamed again. . . . . .but she didn’t return to the bath anymore.
