The alliance between the Masrur Kingdom and the Gaillia Kingdom has put the Dagan Empire in a delicate position.
Until now, Dagan was Masrur’s largest trading partner, allowing them to push through some unreasonable demands.
Things like asking for financial aid or development assistance.
ㅤ
If they refused, they would complain, saying things like, “Have you forgotten the favor we did for you when you founded your country 500 years ago?”
And to make matters worse, they would even start preparing for war.
ㅤ
For the leadership of the Masrur Kingdom, they were an incredibly troublesome partner.
However, the magic crystals that power the magical machinery that Masrur is proud of were absolutely necessary. And the source of these crystals was the Dagan Empire.
Until now, that is.
ㅤ
From now on, they will be able to buy higher quality magic crystals from the Gaillia Kingdom.
But that doesn’t mean the Masrur Kingdom government was planning to suddenly cut ties with Dagan.
ㅤ
They decided to stop the annual aid that has been demanded, believing that they should have a sincere and courteous relationship with their neighboring country.
In response, the Dagan Empire declared war.
ㅤ
“That’s the situation so far.”
ㅤ
Inside the reactorship, Captain Sonnell explains as they hurry home.
ㅤ
“I understand that this Dagan Empire is a troublesome partner.”
ㅤ
Lionel shrugged his shoulders.
The distance from Indara to Masrur, which would take seven days by magic steamship, can be reached in one day and night by the speed of a reactorship.
ㅤ
“But I don’t understand why we’re involved.”
ㅤ
It’s a problem between Masrur and Dagan.
For Lionel, who is nothing more than an adventurer in the city, it’s a completely unrelated situation.
ㅤ
“I think our king will explain it to you, but Gaillia has decided to send reinforcements. That’s you.”
ㅤ
Sonnell pointed at Lionel.
The strategist shrugged his shoulders lightly.
ㅤ
“You knew that, didn’t you? Even without me telling you.”
“I was hoping that wasn’t the case.”
ㅤ
King Roscandoros of Gaillia has decided to dispatch two hundred people, with Strategist Lionel as their leader.
The team is a mixed group of adventurers and mercenaries.
They recruited volunteers and selected only the best from among them.
ㅤ
“But isn’t two hundred little?”
ㅤ
Lionel asked, stroking his chin with his right hand.
He didn’t ask why he was chosen.
ㅤ
It’s the Lionel squad, which made a name for itself in the Lintrite disturbance.
That name carries weight. It’s much better than sending a poorly trained regular army.
ㅤ
With Strategist Lionel at the center, the team includes such distinguished members as the Battle God Asuka, the Saint Meisha, and the Sage Miliaria.
Of course, we can’t forget the Hero Salieri and the Great Runner Meg.
In addition, strong fighters like Nazar, Joshua, and Nicole will join.
ㅤ
If there were a thousand of them, they could achieve significant results.
But with only two hundred, the number of strategies they can implement is limited.
ㅤ
It’s impossible for them to have an impact on the overall war situation.
And even the Lionel Squad would be a waste of human resources if they were only participating in the war in name only.
ㅤ
“Well, there’s a limit to the number of people, so there’s nothing we can do.”
“A limit?”
“Let’s leave that as a surprise for when we get to Lisan San.”
ㅤ
The captain smiled mischievously.
ㅤ
ㅤ
ㅤ
ㅤ
ㅤ
And so, Lionel and the others from [Hope] recoiled at the sight of the weapon lent to them by Demon King Ingral.
ㅤ
The Float Train.
A magical train that was supposed to connect Lisan San and Gaillia City.
It can run on any rough road because it floats slightly above the ground, and it is said that it can reach a speed ten times that of a two-horse carriage at its maximum speed. It is the wisdom of the ancient magical civilization.
ㅤ
“I’ll lend this to you, so go wild as you like.”
ㅤ
Those were the words of the Demon King himself.
Two hundred people were the number that could ride on the Float Train.
ㅤ
Initially, Ingral intended to use this magical train for transporting goods, but he got an idea from General Kytes, with whom he had a conversation via magical communication.
He suggested lending it to Lionel and letting him use it as he pleased.
ㅤ
The Demon King found this interesting.
The crystallization of ancient magical technology to a strategist who is respected by the leaders of both countries.
He wanted to see what kind of chemical changes would occur.
ㅤ
“You’re lending me the Float Train for such a reason, but I can’t take responsibility if it gets broken, Your Majesty.”
“Please try not to break it as much as possible. We’ve technically figured it out, so I think we can mass-produce it soon.”
ㅤ
The Demon King laughs, saying that there will only be one of these for about a year.
All Lionel can do is give a bitter smile.
He wonders if they already have a plan for mass production.
ㅤ
“Anyway, the Dagan Imperial Army is gathering near the border. The estimated number is sixty thousand. It’s good that Lionel came back before they started advancing.”
ㅤ
The Masrur Royal Army, on the other hand, is led by Demon General Grant, Demon General Samuel, Demon General Avanchi, and Demon General Dozle, each leading ten thousand, with Demon King Ingral himself in command.
That’s a total of fifty thousand troops.
ㅤ
“By the way, don’t I really need to be here?”
“If we fight a fair fight, both sides will suffer heavy losses. It would be best if the Dagan guys gave up before a major battle.”
“So, you’re saying I should annoy them.”
ㅤ
Lionel spreads his arms wide.
The Demon King didn’t affirm, but he didn’t deny it either.
ㅤ
From here on, it’s up to Strategist Lionel.
No matter how he judges and acts, Ingral has no intention of interfering.
ㅤ
“I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of miracle you’ll perform, Lionel.”
“Please don’t have too high expectations, Your Majesty.”
ㅤ
The Demon King’s extended right hand was firmly grasped by the Strategist.
