“What a formidable force, human female.”
Sayakon flashed his one good eye and gnashed his teeth.
Sayakon had barely survived by chewing and swallowing all the marbles he had in his possession, bringing him to the brink of death.
Anubis’s sand blasts had been formidable, his body was a wreck, but the demonic energy he emitted was still sharp.
“Be careful. . . His demonic energy is still not normal.”
Like a harmless weed that was actually deadly poison.
Sayakon looked at Gandharva with the eyes of a predator sizing up its prey.
They say even a rotten tooth is still a tooth.
His teeth may have been worn down, but a predator is still a predator.
Sayakon took a step towards Gandharva, exuding a fierce aura.
“You really won’t run away?”
“Cover me!!”
Gandharva charged at her opponent, kicking off the ground.
Anubis let out a sigh and, unable to leave her spot, squeezed her dantian, wringing out the last of her remaining mana.
“You’re using your life to do this.”
Sayakon compressed his demonic energy into one spot.
The sharp, pointed demonic energy gradually coalesced, filling his large mouth.
Gandharva pulled her shoulders back and clenched her fists.
And just as her fists were about to erupt in flames, a torrent of demonic energy erupted from Sayakon’s mouth and shot forward.
Gandharva dodged it, unlike last time.
Anubis seized the opportunity.
She didn’t need to block all of that demonic energy.
She couldn’t block it all anyway.
“Hold still for a moment!”
Anubis shouted and sealed Sayakon’s mouth with sand.
TL: Originally, every Anubis’ sentence ends with “nya”. It’s my personal preference not to add it because it’s kinda cringy.
His demonic energy, with nowhere to go, tore through his body, opening holes all over.
Sayakon writhed in sudden pain, trying to suppress his rampaging demonic energy, but it was too late.
“It’s over, you bastard!!”
Along with Gandharva’s parting insult, a straight line of lightning shot out.
A bright yellow flame completely engulfed her fist.
The flames, so hot they could reduce anything to a handful of ash, shot up into the sky like a rocket’s fire.
Gandharva poured all of her remaining mana into her gauntlet.
A clean, sharp wave of mana blossomed belatedly.
Her bright yellow fist, now at full power, burned Sayakon’s entire body to cinders.
Kuwak!!
A function of her gauntlet allowed the sun’s flames to react to demonic energy.
Her skill was so powerful that she couldn’t keep it activated all the time, so she had the option to activate it for only a short period of time.
Gandharva deactivated ‘Agni’s Dominion’ and collapsed to the ground.
Normally, mana is no match for demonic energy.
However, this technique, which twisted the formula of the elemental spell to make mana react to demonic energy, reversed that dynamic.
Of course, that didn’t mean that mana completely overwhelmed demonic energy.
“If it’s on equal footing, isn’t it worth a try?”
Gandharva chuckled as she watched Sayakon turn to ash, consumed by the bright yellow flames.
“Seriously. . . I was so nervous.”
“Anubis, thanks for the cover.”
“Why do you do crazier and crazier things? Wouldn’t it be easier to just fight normally?”
Anubis grumbled and sat down next to her.
Sayakon wasn’t that strong when he was split up, but when he was whole, he was a demon race that served as Kraken’s bodyguard.
He had been a formidable opponent, even for ‘Misteltein’.
“But didn’t you feel a strange aura during the fight?”
“Yeah, I did. The same overwhelming aura from the floating island, and a strange power that seemed to be spreading out all over the world. . .?”
They had become aware of Kraken’s presence and Baba Yaga activating the Lux Project during the battle, even though neither of them had exerted their auras.
One thing was for sure: neither of them were auras that were friendly to humanity.
“Anubis, let’s find some potions and head to the Reverse Gate we were assigned to.”
“Got it. But where are the potions?”
“Maybe we can find some if we search the other guys’ houses.”
“. . .If we get caught later, it’s your fault.”

Choi Dae-soo flinched, looking slightly flustered.
The horde of tens of thousands of zombies that had filled Johannesburg to the brim collapsed all at once.
It happened in an instant.
He stared blankly at the zombies that had fallen like straw dolls.
Choi Dae-soo had been fighting the monsters that were pouring out of the Reverse Gate, and he had also been keeping a close eye on the zombies that were running towards him without hesitation.
Of course, he didn’t die or anything if he got bitten by a zombie, but he was careful not to get hit because he didn’t know how Baba Yaga’s spell worked.
From what he had observed, it didn’t seem to have any contagious power that could infect its targets.
However, there could be a curse that only activated on mana-wielding Hunters, so it was better to be careful.
He had been fighting the monsters coming out of the Reverse Gate for a while now, when suddenly a dark green light erupted from all around.
The light, which only emanated from the zombies, shot up into the sky and then flew silently in a certain direction.
It wasn’t just a simple flash of light.
“I can’t sense any of the faint demonic energy that I could feel from the zombies.”
Choi Dae-soo realized that the light he had just seen had taken the demonic energy from the zombies and flown away with it.
If Baba Yaga had died or if her spell had simply been lifted, would this complex process have happened again?
He couldn’t help but stroke his beard, feeling restless.
“It’s not that Baba Yaga is dead. . . If she’s the one who took this power, then the story would make sense.”
She would have the zombies kill people, amplifying the demonic energy they possessed, and then she would take all of that power for herself.
Of course, this was just Choi Dae-soo’s speculation.
However, if she had the ability to lead a group of Ability users called 〈Black Heaven〉, then she might be capable of something like this.
He checked the pulse of a zombie that had lost its demonic energy.
“. . .It’s dead.”
The moment they took the drug called Lux, their lives were already over.
However, if there was one silver lining, it was that with the zombies gone, the Hunters could now focus solely on the Reverse Gate.
Just then, another monster appeared from beyond the Reverse Gate.
Choi Dae-soo sighed deeply.
“It’s not going to be easy from now on.”
He swallowed hard as he looked at the mythological creature, Basilisk, that had appeared before him.

Kwa━━━━ng!!
Baba Yaga shattered the high ceiling and escaped through the hole in the ceiling, using the roots of plants to climb up.
“Who are you calling weak?”
Siwoo saw her and used wind magic to follow her through the hole in the ceiling.
They emerged on the outside of the castle, where they could see outside.
A dazzling white snowy field and a range of mountains stretched out endlessly below the horizon.
A cold wind was blowing.
The bitter cold that could only be felt in the highlands of South Korea in the middle of winter was being recreated on top of this castle.
At that moment, a thick, dark green beam of light poured down from the sky like a torrential downpour.
The green rainwater, which would have dyed the entire area a bright green, was caught in the middle and sucked into Baba Yaga’s magic circle.
“This aura. . .?”
“Hoohoohoo, that’s right. Those are the seeds I’ve been scattering little by little while activating the Lux Project.”
“So that’s what you meant by that.”
“That’s right, I called them auxiliary batteries.”
Baba Yaga seemed to have regained her composure, and she gave Siwoo a cold glare, the corners of her mouth curving up.
For her, the zombies of the Lux Project served two purposes.
One was to cause chaos in the world and kill people, as the demon race and Merlin had predicted.
The other was to slowly build up demonic energy, and when she needed it, she would take all of that demonic energy for herself.
She hadn’t expected to be able to gather her strength so quickly after activating the project, but either way, her role was fulfilled.
Baba Yaga chanted a spell, feeling the demonic energy filling her magic circle.
Ddrrruk!!
The magic circle spun around and around, and demonic energy began to flow into her body.
“Hoohoohoo, it’s too late to regret it now. You’ll wish you were dead in the face of overwhelming terror.”
Her staff swung.
Siwoo put up a magic shield.
ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡTuduruk.
A strange popping sound came from the top of the shield.
Half of Siwoo’s shoulder was sliced off, and blood splattered all over his face.
Kwaang!!
The blow that had grazed him completely destroyed the castle wall behind him.
Siwoo quickly used Heal to repair his wound and blocked her next attack with his Muramasa as she flew back up.
Zzzwing!!!
A deafening boom echoed through the air, as if it were going to tear everything apart, and pushed Siwoo’s body back several meters.
Siwoo poured Heal into his broken and mangled fingers and palm.
She had indeed become strong enough to talk about ‘overwhelming terror’.
No, more than that.
The boundless demonic energy flowing from her entire body, the mana that intertwined with it, and the delicate control of her spells.
Every time he blocked one of her flawless attacks, his muscles would tear and his insides would twist.
She had gone beyond the realm of mere strength and into the realm of monsters.
“Ahahahahahat! Where did all that recklessness from before go! Jump around some more! Come at me with everything you’ve got!”
Baba Yaga cast a spell at Siwoo, her face in ecstasy.
Dozens of magic circles unfolded around her at the same time, firing relentless demonic energy at her target.
Kwakakaka!!
The castle was reduced to ashes with a loud noise, and the huge, beautiful castle collapsed in an instant.
Baba Yaga floated in the air, looking down at the scene with cold eyes.
“Hoohoohoo, ahahahahahat! What did I tell you? I told you that you would die by my hand. This ‘Witch of Black’ is not as stupid as Saint Germain.”
She drew a thick line with her eyes and laughed as her surroundings disappeared.
Then, after a moment of deep thought, she swung her staff wildly in all directions.
Kwaaaaang!! Kwakaka!!! Kwaaaaaaaaaaang!!
The already broken castle was completely pulverized, and dust and rubble flew everywhere.
Baba Yaga wasn’t satisfied with that, so she spread a potion on her staff and cast a spell.
Thousands of thick vines shot up into the sky, piercing through the collapsed ground and the ruins of the castle.
“His body must be somewhere. . . .”
She searched through the vines, trying to find Siwoo’s body.
It seemed that she wouldn’t be able to say for sure that he was dead until she found his body.
Baba Yaga searched everywhere with her sharp eyes, and then she spotted Siwoo’s clothes behind a thick vine.
She quickly flew over there and pointed her staff at Siwoo.
“Ahahahahahat! You were hiding. . .here.”
However, all that was there was his outer coat, which had been caught on a vine.
Art of the Half-Dragon.
At that moment, Baba Yaga felt a sharp chill behind her, as if the fangs of an angry dragon were bared.
The spells that had been surrounding her all emitted light at the same time,
ㅡㅡ!!!!!
And to counter them, Siwoo swung his fist, covered in dragon scales, with all his might.
