𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟖𝟗: 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐚 𝐘𝐚𝐠𝐚 1
Gandharva was gritting her teeth so hard that her molars were about to crack, and she was pumping magic power into both fists.
The sun, now larger than before, rose and collided with the invading demonic energy, sending out a blinding flash of white light in all directions.
Kuaaaaaaaa!!
Sayakon’s thick, heavy demonic energy gushed out violently, scorching the surroundings and squeezing Gandharva’s sun as if it was a juicer.
Whether it was in terms of demonic energy or magic power, Gandharva had never faced an opponent with such overwhelming power in all her past battles.
It wasn’t simply a matter of superior skill or exceptional battle sense; the mere presence of his aura was overwhelmingly strong.
In order to avoid being crushed by the demonic energy her opponent was wielding, Gandharva braced herself by pumping magic power into her gauntlets.
In the first place, since demonic energy was a concept that surpassed magic power, even if they poured out the same amount, the one at a disadvantage would inevitably be the magic user.
She thought of using the additional function of ‘Agni’s Dominion’, but that was a technique that should only be used when the time was right.
It was still too early to use it.
Feeling her strength gradually waning, Gandharva felt as if her insides were being turned upside down by the approaching demonic energy.
Her sun began to lose its light, and the demonic energy swelled up like a bubble, as if it would soon engulf the entire area.
“Sorry, but it seems like it’s been more than 30 seconds.”
At that moment, Anubis’s voice came from behind her.
Gandharva smiled with a sense of relief and shouted in a hoarse voice.
“Even if you’re late, you’re too late!!”
“Get down!”
As soon as Gandharva lowered her body, a huge wave of sand rose high into the sky and charged forward.
Kuwaaaaaaaaa!!
It shredded the demonic energy to pieces and even devastated the spot where Sayakon had been standing.
However, the most terrifying aspect of this technique was not its destructive power.
Anubis’s eyes shone black, and her magic power flowed along her staff, imbuing it with a second spell.
Sugeugeugeu!!
Everything that came into contact with the sand lost its life force and withered away.
Anubis, the Egyptian god who guided the dead.
As if embodying that legend, everything her technique touched lost its breath, withered away, and met its end.
Anubis focused her sand on Sayakon, her eyes gleaming.
Countless grains of sand gathered at one point and dug into Sayakon’s flesh as if tearing it apart.
“You will die here!”
Anubis exclaimed, unleashing her magic power to the maximum.
Zzeeeeeeeeeeee!!
However, all of the sand that had been digging in exploded and scattered.
From within it, Sayakon emerged, chewing on something.
“Thanks to you, I used up all my marbles.”
Sayakon glared at Anubis and spoke in a voice filled with anger.
Whether Anubis’s fierce attack had been effective or not, he looked tattered and torn.
It seemed like a few more attacks would be enough to finish him off. . .
However, Anubis had used up all of her magic power and was unable to resume her attack immediately.
“Gandharva, how about we retreat for now?”
Anubis whispered to her.
“No, just one more. . . I can do one more.”
Gandharva infused her bracelet with magic power, activating another function of ‘Agni’s Dominion’.
Hwarurururururur!!
🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
The situation in Johannesburg showed no signs of improving.
It was already a place with poor public safety, and with zombies pouring out like ants from an anthill, the hunters and soldiers were at their wit’s end.
Furthermore, there were many criminals mixed in with the people who had not become zombies because they had not taken Lux, and they even clashed with the military.
“Phew. . .”
Choi Dae-soo exhaled a puff of smoke and materialized a pair of obsidian gauntlets on his hands.
The hard, sharp gauntlets exuded a fierce aura, silently threatening their surroundings.
He strode towards the zombies and pulled out a streetlamp next to him, swinging it with all his might.
Ceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
A dozen or so zombies were shattered into pieces at once, their blood spraying in an arc.
The zombies that spotted him swarmed towards him again, and Choi Dae-soo swung the streetlamp until it bent and broke.
“Ugh, there are so many of them. I never would have guessed that ‘Misteltein’ would turn civilians into zombies.”
He frowned, as if disgusted by the situation that was essentially a catastrophe.
Beating up monsters or criminals was a rewarding job, regardless of whether it was enjoyable or not.
There was something left over, and there was also a sense of relief that came from solving a problem.
However, incidents involving civilians were inherently disgusting.
He would feel disgusted even days later, and the sensation lingering on his fingertips would make him lose his appetite.
This zombie incident would be no different.
“Damn that Baba Yaga. If I had been the one to fight her, I would have stabbed her with my bronze sword.”
Of course, there was no guarantee that this zombie horde would stop if Baba Yaga was killed.
On the contrary, some spells became stronger and more dangerous when the caster was killed.
‘𝘔𝘪𝘯 𝘚𝘪𝘸𝘰𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵.’
Choi Dae-soo threw the streetlamp and smashed the head of an approaching zombie.
That was when it happened.
Kugugugugugugugugugugu. . .!!
The ground shook violently, and a strange aura began to emanate from a distance.
Choi Dae-soo wondered what was going on for a moment, then gasped in surprise and bolted towards the source of the aura.
The front gate of the Monte Cassino Monastery in Johannesburg.
The Reverse Gate that had been standing there quietly was slowly rising, preparing to release monsters.
“Damn, the real thing is about to start.”
Choi Dae-soo said, clicking his tongue at the sight of the Reverse Gate.
But that was only for a moment.
Monsters emerged one by one from within the black gate, their demonic energy billowing.
Choi Dae-soo immediately opened his dantian and circulated magic power throughout his body.
Kuueeeeeeeeee!!
Instantly, dozens of zombies in the vicinity collapsed and burst on the ground, and the monsters that had come out of the gate also staggered and collapsed on the ground.
It was truly overwhelming power.
Choi Dae-soo approached the gate and slammed the head of a monster with his gauntlet.
An earth-shattering roar erupted as the monster’s head disappeared without a trace.
He was still able to handle the situation on his own for now.
If the numbers increased any further or their power became overwhelmingly strong, he would need the help of other hunters, but for now, he would hold them off as long as he could.
From what he could tell of the monsters’ power, it seemed that it would take one or two S-rank hunters to deal with a single monster.
“And these are the monsters that appear at the beginning?”
Choi Dae-soo muttered, holding a cigarette in his gauntlet stained with monster blood.
Already, more than a dozen monsters were lying torn apart around him.
They had all been killed instantly with a single blow.
“I hope the guy with the Gate Heart comes out soon.”
If Reverse Gates like this one had ‘Misteltein’ or super high-rankers, it would be better, but in places where they were not, a war would start the moment the monsters appeared.
Fortunately, Min Siwoo had sent ‘Misteltein’ and other super high-rankers to the most densely populated areas, taking into account the circumstances.
If he hadn’t, they might still be playing into Merlin’s hands and holding endless meetings at this moment.
“For now, that guy has to catch Baba Yaga first, and the key is what happens to the zombies.”
If it was a plan that relied on the chaos of humanity, this operation could be called nothing less than a success for 〈Pandemonium〉.
Of course, the fact that Siwoo had tried to arrest Baba Yaga had triggered the Lux Project, but if the arrest had been delayed, Lux would have spread further and the number of victims would have increased.
Even though the Reverse Gate was not yet complete, they had no choice but to try to capture Merlin and Baba Yaga, as they did not know what they might do in the future.
They just didn’t know that they would turn people into zombies.
“We’re one step closer to war now. Once we’ve repelled 〈Pandemonium〉, will they come out of their realm next?”
Choi Dae-soo took a deep drag of his cigarette and glared at the gate.
🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸
Baba Yaga quickly turned her head to follow the trajectory of Siwoo’s afterimage.
However, even as ‘Misteltein’, Siwoo’s speed was so fast that she could barely perceive it with her eyes.
Kwa━━━ng!!
At that moment, a tremendous shockwave erupted from behind her, shattering several defensive spells.
“Kyaaaaaa!!”
Baba Yaga was startled by the sudden attack, but she immediately swung her staff and unleashed a barrage of spells at Siwoo.
Dozens of magic circles surrounding her reacted simultaneously, casting different spells on Siwoo.
Kwaaaa!!
From a spell that would destroy all of the optic nerves if hit to a curse that would crush the dantian.
A variety of spells poured down like a torrential rain, but Siwoo’s afterimage did not look like it had a moment ago.
“Your body is very agile!”
She shouted in an angry voice.
As ‘Misteltein’ and also as someone who had lived in 〈Pandemonium〉, she had not lived with the same kind of mindset as Merlin, who believed himself to be the strongest. However, she did not live her life believing herself to be weak either.
She had become strong enough to kill and rise above anyone if necessary.
Leading a group of ability users called 〈Black Heaven〉 was not something that could be done with just any level of skill.
Everyone has their own area of expertise or place where they are confident.
For Baba Yaga, it was this castle.
Here, she had all of her spells and research, and she was confident that she could stand up to even Merlin here.
But who was this Min Siwoo?
He was swinging his fists and slashing his sword in her impregnable castle without hesitation.
She glared at Siwoo in disbelief and continued to cast spells relentlessly.
Just one curse, just one spell would do.
If she could just graze him and catch his ankle, the other curses would follow and pierce through everything, turning him into a mess.
She would have plenty of time to take his neck then.
However, Siwoo did not even allow her to graze him.
Kugugugu!!
The ground melted as if it had been soaked in venom, due to the fact that all sorts of magic were pouring out mixed together.
She gritted her teeth and chewed on her lips.
“You’re dodging like a rat. You said you’d fight me properly, but you don’t have the courage?”
Zzeeeeeeee!!
At that moment, a huge shockwave struck from behind Baba Yaga, destroying several of her magic circles.
She grabbed a few of the potions that had been spinning around her and poured them into her mouth before spitting them out again towards where Siwoo was.
Zzezezezezezezezezezeze. . .!
Dark green ice instantly froze everything in sight.
It wasn’t just freezing them; it was a deadly attack that melted everything trapped inside with venom.
“Hohoho. You definitely couldn’t dodge that this time. I froze everything in the radius. . . .”
However, she didn’t finish her sentence.
In Baba Yaga’s eyes, Siwoo’s roundhouse kick appeared in slow motion.
Ceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
A deafening roar erupted as Baba Yaga’s body flew away and crashed into the ground.
Siwoo took a short breath and stared intently at the spot where she had flown.
“Amazing. . . You’re amazing.”
Baba Yaga emerged from the cracks in the broken stones.
Torn and bruised wounds were visible here and there.
“I never thought there would be someone who could push me this far. And in this castle of all places.”
“It was nothing.”
“Hohoho. My pride is really. . . crumbling.”
Baba Yaga shook her head in disbelief.
“I have one good news and one bad news for you.”
“What is it?”
“The good news is that I’m going to stop the Lux Project right now.”
“Is that so? And the bad news?”
As Siwoo asked, Baba Yaga stopped the huge magic circle that had been moving behind her.
“The bad news is that you’re going to have to handle all of it.”
Immediately, all of the demonic energy from the zombies operating all over the world began to be absorbed into her.
