Darkness filled the lab, flying toward Jin Do-wa with a sharp flesh-like sheen.
Jin Do-wa did not even bother to look at the encroaching darkness.
He quickly drew a painting on the palm of his hand with his brush and breathed magic into it.
[Illusionist Jeon Woo-chi: Revival of Strange Paintings]
Three giant turtles suddenly appeared in the air, blocking the flying blades of darkness with their shells.
It was a peculiar and quick sleight of hand.
“Showing off such a cheap trick in my space. I’ll treat you like a delicacy and preserve you in formalin.”
The doctor said, glaring at the turtles and Jin Do-wa with a glint of dissatisfaction in his eyes.
“Why are you glaring like that? Isn’t this cuter than those monstrous things you guys created? I couldn’t make my precious turtle like that. I feel sorry for you, doctor.”
“Shut it!! How dare an ignorant fool like you talk back to me like this!! Those of you with no understanding of experimentation and research are nothing more than sick people. . .”
The doctor had become a little more irritable since Saint Germain’s death.
The plan for 〈Pandemonium〉 was now nearing its conclusion, and the world they had dreamed of would soon unfold.
However, much was still lacking.
The Dimensional Gate project required extensive research, as did Baba Yaga’s Lux Project.
But somehow, Merlin had given instructions to launch all the projects within this month.
If they made a single mistake, the project could fail before it even started, but he would not budge.
It seemed that many plans had changed due to Saint Germain’s death.
The projects were supposed to be monitored for at least half a year and carried out gradually, but now they had no choice but to do it or die trying.
If those were put into action, no one would be able to turn back time.
The war between humans and demons would surely take place, and the world would fall under the rule of the Demon King.
The doctor intended to live in that new world and carry out his will.
All those years, he had been ignored by academia and fellow researchers, kicked out of his university, and laughed at and mocked by countless others.
The doctor had never forgotten their faces and the humiliation he had suffered, not for a single moment.
No, he couldn’t forget.
He had poured all his pent-up resentment into his research, determined to take revenge on the world, and when the Demon King ruled the world, he intended to take revenge on those who had humiliated him as a close aide to the demons.
There is nothing more humiliating for a researcher than to have their research ignored.
“Oh my. You’re quite the angry one. I heard that Saint Germain, or rather, a third-rate alchemist who was something of a frog, was your student. It seems that the student is a match for the teacher.”
Jin Do-wa taunted the doctor, provoking him.
He turned the palm of his hand into a long pipe, put it in his mouth, and puffed out white smoke.
The doctor felt an unbearable sense of contempt.
Why on Earth should he be looked down upon and humiliated by such an uncultured criminal?
He was once the world’s leading scholar, loved by the entire nation.
He had lost his pride and even his name after his fall, and was only called ‘doctor’, but even so, it was not to the extent of being shamed by such a man.
He bit his lips so hard that blood dripped down.
“This bastard who deserves to die. . .!! This me. . .!! How dare you. . .!!”
“Oh~ You’re angry, you’re angry. I can tell by your eyes. You look quite twisted. What should I do?”
Jin Do-wa blew out cigarette smoke through his lips, looking completely unfazed.
In contrast, the other two IZIZ members looked surprised by the doctor’s attitude.
The sheer murderous intent emanating from him and the thick, dense demonic energy filling the room.
It was less dangerous than when they had invaded Baba Yaga’s castle, but even this space was not so easy.
The doctor was a powerful man, rising to the 2nd Hierarchy in 〈Pandemonium〉.
Excluding the two ‘Mistelteins’, who were now at the 1st Hierarchy, the doctor was the highest-ranking figure in 〈Pandemonium〉.
It was no wonder they were worried about the aftermath, since they had not only provoked him but also thoroughly humiliated him.
“Can we trust that guy?”
“Well. It’s my first time working with him.”
The masked men muttered to each other, their suspicious gazes lingering on Jin Do-wa.
At that moment, the doctor slammed his cane on the basement floor and picked up a book of dark magic that was next to him.
“You have now crossed a river of no return! I will torture you in the most brutal way and make you into dolls, just like Harold Bloom!!”
Then he opened the book of dark magic and began to recite a sinister spell.
Words and syllables that did not exist in this world flowed out of the doctor’s mouth like the tail of a snake.
“I will stop him.”
Yeo Jin-sik pulled out a piece of coated paper that had Planar Restraint contained in it from his arms and threw it at the doctor.
Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeng!!
There was an enormous roar, but the doctor was not harmed in the slightest.
Before he could be damaged, the darkness that descended like a net from all directions blocked Yeo Jin-sik’s Planar Restraint attack.
“What was in the coated paper?”
Kaleo, the man next to him, asked.
“It contained Bicataur’s punch. . . But.”
The destructive power of the Bicataur was the most powerful among the IZIZ members.
If that didn’t work, it was likely that other attacks wouldn’t work either.
“Otherwise, there’s a Warthog’s side blow. Should I use that?”
“No. I don’t think it’ll reach him. Jin Do-wa said he’d take care of it, so let’s just keep quiet.”
Kaleo muttered, looking at Jin Do-wa, who was smiling even in this situation.
Jin Do-wa was not the type to push and fight with brute force.
He was the strategist type who moved with thoroughly calculated plans, identified the weaknesses of his opponent, and then attacked.
“Kukukuku! Fool! It seems you have no idea what this spell means! Or do you think you can survive by clinging like a bat?!”
“I saw how they attacked, and it doesn’t seem to work. It looks like the old man is making his last desperate attempt, so I’ll just let him do whatever.”
“You’re just giving up because you have no way to deal with it! Open your eyes wide and see how Harold Bloom died!!”
The doctor continued to chant the book of dark magic.
Soon after, darkness boiled up around him.
The space all around twisted, and like fractals dancing in a variety of colors, it took away all sense of direction.
The doctor smiled with satisfaction.
This time too, it was his victory.
Now, hundreds of demons and Kraken would be there, and Jin Do-wa and the other IZIZ would be tortured relentlessly.
The brief movement ended and the soles of his feet touched the floor.
The doctor leaned on his cane and barely managed to suppress the nausea that washed over him.
Perhaps because of his age, his vision went black for a moment and his ears were ringing.
“Kukukuku! Oh, Kraken-nim! Show these bastards the terror of demons!!”
He swallowed his rising vomit and pointed his cane in the direction where Jin Do-wa had been, shouting.
The ringing gradually subsided.
He could not hear the sound of battle or groans as he had expected.
His vision gradually returned.
Only then did the doctor realize that he was not in the demon realm.
He could see a table with a dozen people sitting around it.
The conference room of ‘Misteltein.’
They were staring at the doctor, each with different emotions in their eyes.
“Hehehe. What the hell is this, you damn old man.”
Billy the Kid teased, fingering the brim of his hat.
“This kind of Teleportation magic on this floating island? Something’s fishy. How did you set the coordinates to come here?”
This time, Anubis’ golden eyes sparkled.
Everyone showed signs of suspicion, but they did not move because their opponent seemed to be of little consequence.
“Hehehe. It can be stressful if you suddenly get nosy, so how about we rest a little and then ask? There are occasional cases of making mistakes when casting teleportation magic.”
As if on cue, Merlin put on a friendly face and spoke to the people of ‘Misteltein’ as if he had good intentions.
Then, without waiting for anyone else’s answer, he started to walk towards the doctor.
Just then.
“Kraken-nim? The greatness of the demon race. It’s quite strange to hear you talk like this after suddenly showing up. Old man, what’s your true identity?”
Choi Dae-soo chewed on an unlit cigar, emitting a soft murderous intent.
“Tch. I heard that too. And I sense a faint demonic energy coming from the book in his hand.”
Loki, who was next to him, backed up Choi Dae-soo,
“I know that face. He’s the doctor, who is the 2nd Hierarchy in 〈Pandemonium〉. There was footage of him taken just before Harold Bloom disappeared that was in the HSIU server room. Siwoo showed it to me.”
Finally, Gandharva put the finishing touch on his opinion.
Merlin had no choice but to stop walking towards the doctor.
He had intended to pretend to help him, take him to his room and escape through another portal.
The atmosphere in the conference room turned into fierce hostility in an instant because of those three people.
“You damn dog of 〈Pandemonium〉, are you out of your mind, or do you want to die? Do you think we’re that easy?”
Chiu exuded murderous intent, touching the hilt of the broken sword hanging from her waist.
“After Saint Germain, our ‘Misteltein’ has been changed for the worse. It’s all thanks to you guys. You bastards who serve the demon race.”
Kiplagat also glared at the doctor.
It was truly an explosive situation.
The doctor could not understand how he had ended up in this situation.
He was sure that he had recited the spell in the book of dark magic as he always did and had used Teleportation, so why had he ended up in the middle of the enemy camp instead of where he usually went?
He recalled Jin Do-wa’s face.
This was clearly a trap set by the enemy.
Was there any way to survive this?
The doctor couldn’t believe he had endured all those years just to die such a miserable death.
He looked at Merlin and Baba Yaga.
Baba Yaga was smiling with her eyes wide open, and Merlin was looking at him with cold eyes.
“Merlㅡ”
The doctor opened his mouth.
At that moment, a wave of mana shot out of Merlin’s cane, which was closest to him, and crushed his skull.
“Hold on. . .Merlin. You should have caught him and interrogated him.”
Kid looked at him in disbelief.
“Sorry. I thought he was using a skill because he opened his mouth.”
Merlin pretended to look sorry and looked down at the doctor’s blood flowing on the floor with cold eyes.

“Where did you send him?”
Yeo Jin-sik asked Jin Do-wa, looking at the spot where the doctor had suddenly disappeared.
“Huh. I sent him to ‘that’ place.”
“Wasn’t it originally a spell to teleport with us? It looked that way.”
“It seemed like he wanted to teleport to the demon realm.”
“The demon realm. . . . If we had gone there, all three of us would have died.”
Kaleo made a face as if the mere thought of it was terrifying.
“But how did you stop it, Boss Jin Do-wa?”
Yeo Jin-sik couldn’t quite understand it.
“Oh. It’s a trade secret, a trade secret. Huh? I got a text message.”
Jin Do-wa stopped talking, checked the message, and grinned.
“Why are you smiling?”
“Uh. It says the doctor is dead.”
“What? Who to? Who sent the text?”
Jin Do-wa puffed on his pipe, exhaled white smoke, and laughed nonchalantly.
Kaleo and Yeo Jin-sik stared at him and waited for an answer.
“It’s from. An old friend.”
