Brought before the eyes of the dragged-in Volk, Siwoo began to briefly explain the situation.
“Some punk killed my disciple. But it was damn hard to track and investigate.”
He squatted down and rested his arms on his knees.
It was in order to meet Volk’s eye level as he lay down and raised only his upper body.
“Turns out there are professional hunter killers now. There was no such thing back in my day.”

There were no Awakener killers before Siwoo went to the other world.
Rather than professional killers, there were just guys who would fight and kill hunters they didn’t like inside Gates or blatantly commit crimes with their awakened abilities.
There were no laws for Awakeners or hunters then, and the system operated solely on the rule of strength.
In the 10 years he was gone in the other world, a system and laws for Awakeners were created, and occupations became more specialized.
“Anyway, I somehow managed to get a face shot, but no one I know recognizes this mug.”
“So. . . ? You let him live so he’d sell out his buddies in exchange, is that it?”
“Something like that.”
Volk laughed in disbelief at Siwoo’s all-too-obvious answer.
It wasn’t even a cliché you’d see in a boy’s comic book. Did he expect someone to be touched by the fact that he treated his wounds and spared his life?
“Tsk. You’ve got me pegged all wrong. You think I’d sell out my buddies for the price of one life saved? I’m f*cking Sheri Volk, I don’t get swayed by cheap sympathy.”
Siwoo scratched his head.
His opponent had misunderstood the terms of their deal, but he didn’t bother to correct him.
Because he would only be inviting trouble if he refused.
He took out the photo he had hidden in his arms and showed it to him.
“What’s this. . . .”
Siwoo could tell by the subtle fluctuations in Volk’s mana field that his emotions had stirred like a voice.
“You know this punk?”
“It’s the first time I’m seeing himㅡhe’s not one of our guys. There’s more than one organization of killers, so he must belong to some other group.”
“I see. . . You don’t know him?”
“That’s too bad. You guys should search around some more. HSIU’s got good intel, don’t they?”
Siwoo continued to stare down at Volk, still crouched down.
His mana field was rippling like waves, as if reflecting Volk’s state of mind.
“I have one funny trait, you see.”
“. . . . . .What is it?”
The smile slowly faded from Siwoo’s lips.
“Seeing through lies.”
Volk’s face hardened.
Like a predator watching a rabbit that’s tried to run away, Siwoo didn’t let his prey’s feeble struggle go.
Volk raised his voice in a panic.
“What, what the hell are you talking about? Who’s trying to pull one over on you? f*ck, I’m telling you I don’t know him! You’re not a sensory-type hunter anyway!!”
“Your tongue gets longer when you lie, just like that.”
“You son of a bitchㅡ!”
Thwack!
Volk’s outburst was cut off by something.
Unseen hand movements.
Blood gushing out belatedly.
Pain that felt like fire and an earthquake.
“Fuuㅡㅡckㅡㅡ!!”
Volk screamed, touching his ripped-off jaw.
His entire face was drenched in blood as his lower jaw had been completely torn off.
It wasn’t cut off with a weapon or a skill.
His jaw had been ripped off with a few fingers, like a bear would ‘scratch’ someone.
Ordinary strength wouldn’t be enough to tear off a human jaw like clay.
He must have had a skill, or he was wearing gloves enchanted with magic.
Or maybe he had focused his mana into his hands and swung them with all his might.
But Siwoo had used his bare hands, not even imbued with mana.
“Fuuㅡㅡuck. . . . . .!!!”
Volk couldn’t do anything about the excruciating pain and just kept letting the blood flow down his hands.
It was then that Siwoo reached out his hand towards the other man’s jaw.
Volk was startled and instinctively took an attack stance.
In the meantime, blood continued to gush out of his severed jaw.
Siwoo spoke in a cold, low voice, watching his opponent tremble like a dog.
“Sit.”
It wasn’t a spell or a command, but Volk couldn’t disobey and fell to his knees, trembling.
Siwoo placed his hand on the ragged area under his nose.
A golden light burst out like a flame.
The bright, golden light shone blindingly as 12 letters circled around in a ring.
The warm, cozy heat enveloped Volk’s jaw in an instant.
Whir-r-r
“W-What theㅡㅡㅡ?”
And then something happened that was impossible by hunter common sense, something he had never experienced before.
Not just hemostasis or simple suturing, but regeneration of the wound.
This was impossible.
He had met many healers and surgeons, but he had never seen anything like this.
Could it be possible if it were a world-class, top-ranked healer?
Volk was lost for words at the pain that had washed away like it had been washed away.
The blood that had soaked him from his neck to the hem of his pants seemed like a lie.
He touched his jaw.
It was perfectly healed.
“Now that you have a new mouth, you should answer my questions.”
The same dry voice rang out again.
Volk gulped at Siwoo’s threat that wasn’t really a threat.
If he didn’t tell the truth, the excruciating pain would come back.
But the words that came to his throat were met with his brain, creating a new answer.
“I really don’t know who he is! I swear I’ve never seen that mug before! Why would I lie to you in a situation like this!!”
“Is that so?”
The blade at Siwoo’s waist flashed, and in an instant, Volk’s right arm was severed in two.
Blood gushed out, and a scream that sounded like he was going to puke rang out.
“Aaaaargh!! Fuuㅡㅡck!! You son of a bitch!!”
