The Late Game Healer Is Way Too Strong – Chapter 189

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟖𝟗: 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 3

“This is all a set up! You’ve found someone who looks like me and put together this doctored footage to frame me!”

Cargill Juan’s lips quivered.

Never in his life had he felt so short of breath and dizzy.

Even when he was in the mafia cartel and had guns pointed at him by rival organizations, he had never felt this way.

“Moderator! How can you allow such doctored footage to be shown at a public meeting?! Take it down at once! This is clearly a negative smear campaign targeted at me!”

“That’s strange. Brandon’s evidence was a valid suspicion, yet Hunter Min Siwoo’s evidence is a negative smear campaign?”

“Look here, Lord Blackwood! It’s bad enough that you’re trying to undermine me, but to go as far as to create such a fake video and release it before the election is beyond the pale!”

Cargill Juan shouted and glared at Edward.

Edward shrugged and pointed to the footage with an indifferent expression.

“This is the study in the video. It is identical to the study you showed me when I visited you. I believe some of the people here will recognize it as well.”

“. . . Ahem!”

“Yes, I believe I remember it as well.”

“No. . . Isn’t it slightly different? I don’t remember it.”

Some agreed with Edward, while others glanced at Cargill Juan and remained silent.

‘𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯!!’

Cargill Juan clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white and glared at the footage and Siwoo in turn.

How did Harry know to film that video?

Or did Harry betray him and side with Siwoo? . . . But that video. . . .

He felt like his head was going to explode and shook it violently.

He couldn’t let this ruin him.

He had endured so much for so long to reach this position.

“Hahaha. I have heard Hunter Min Siwoo’s position. An assassination attempt is truly upsetting. But do you have any witnesses or evidence? Can you perhaps bring forth this assassin? Or, do you expect us to believe that you hired some street punk and had them commit perjury!”

Cargill Juan shouted, his neck veins bulging.

At this point, the only thing he could do was nitpick at his opponent’s claims, muddy the waters, and attempt to discredit the claims themselves.

Even if the truth was 90% there, adding just a spoonful of falsehood would cloud the issue.

People tended to fixate on the falsehood rather than the remaining truth.

“And the same goes for that video! Just as easily as you can make baseless claims, you can doctor evidence such as that video! Hunter Min Siwoo! Good try at attempting to tarnish my reputation with such fabrications. I don’t know who put you up to this, but well done, well done indeed.”

He deftly twisted the narrative, attempting to shift the focus from the ‘assassination plot’ to ‘Cargill Juan being targeted by negative smear campaigns.’

If he could just frame it correctly, it was possible to destroy the ethics of the person revealing the suspicion rather than the target of the suspicion.

At that moment, a Hunter on Edward’s side questioned him.

“But Mr. Juan. You had no problem remaining silent when Brandon raised a motion against Hunter Min Siwoo? Even though it was unverified whether it was doctored or not.”

“Is that so? I apologize for that. In that case, how about we leave these two matters to the experts and discuss them again later. With both parties lacking witnesses or evidence, it seems like we’re just going to end up shouting at each other.”

Cargill Juan decided to put this issue on the back burner without mentioning that his side had attacked Min Siwoo just a moment ago.

Once he was appointed as the president, he would suppress the issue from above, allowing him to slip away while the suspicion against Min Siwoo festered.

“Are witnesses enough?”

Min Siwoo directed the question at Cargill Juan.

All eyes in the meeting room turned to Siwoo.

“Witnesses. . . Surely you’re not suggesting that you’ve brought the assassins here? Bringing forth unreliable individuals will only add fuel to the fire.”

“What kind of people would you consider reliable?”

“Well. . . People with clear identities and high credibility, of course.”

Calling forth a petty criminal like Harry to point the finger at Cargill Juan wouldn’t change anything.

Who would trust the words of someone who could be bought for a few pennies?

“I see. So would Hunters from the HSIU headquarters suffice?”

“What. . .?”

“The witnesses will step forward now.”

As Siwoo looked past the round table, two people stood up from their seats and walked onto the stage.

“Greetings, I am Marco, a junior agent from the HSIU headquarters.”

“Greetings! I am Martinez, a junior HSIU agent!”

“You, you. . . .”

Cargill Juan collapsed into his chair.

Siwoo’s smiling face burned into his retinas.

🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

Back when Siwoo had first arrived at the HSIU headquarters.

When Marco and Martinez had visited him and shared a drink, Siwoo had used a spell to prevent their conversation from leaking.

“Why are you using a skill for something as trivial as this?”

Marco asked, glancing around.

“The man sitting at the table in the corner. He’s a hitman.”

“Oh my god, Siwoo, you can’t die! Amigo, I will protect you!”

“Calm down, Martinez. He doesn’t know that I’m onto him.”

“Siwoo, what should we do? We will listen to your opinion.”

“I’ll pretend to get drunk and return to my hotel. Then I’ll use him to identify the person who hired him. . . Hmm.”

Siwoo paused for a moment before continuing.

“It doesn’t make sense that I would be targeted by a hitman on the day I become a senior HSIU agent.”

“My dear friend, does that mean that the person who hired your assassination is within the HSIU?”

“Perhaps. That’s why I’m asking you for a favor.”

Marco and Martinez stared at Siwoo with wide eyes.

“Someone may approach you in the future. My guess is that they will be from Edward’s opposing faction.”

“Okay, I understand. You want me to play double agent?”

Siwoo chuckled and nodded at Marco’s words.

After the drinking party, Siwoo went up to his room and, as expected, was attacked by hitmen.

He passed on the name ‘Cargill Juan’ to Marco and Martinez and soon received word that they had successfully infiltrated.

Siwoo didn’t tell Edward about this.

The old-fashioned man wanted to win the presidency through a fair and square vote, but Siwoo’s thoughts were quite different.

‘𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵, 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧-𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦.’

After all, if someone was determined to kill you, you had to accept the possibility of being killed in turn.

And as time went on and the president election drew near.

Siwoo sent his men straight to the United States the moment the vote was scheduled.

On one hand, they disguised Ah-sul, Ah-ming, and Volk as Harry, Sharaki, and Aquila, using the footage from the body cam, and had them make direct contact with Cargill Juan.

On the other hand, he had Red Ear and Lo-an track down everyone Cargill Juan came into contact with and trace their dealings.

Siwoo’s men were all veterans of the underworld, so they had no trouble carrying out their missions.

They gathered every piece of evidence they could find, edited it without damaging the originals, and handed it over to Siwoo as he entered the airport.

All of this planning had been in motion since the moment Siwoo had first entered the HSIU headquarters.

🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

“The witnesses will now come forward and speak.”

Marco and Martinez raised their hands, swore an oath of conscience, and revealed everything about Cargill Juan.

“The assassins entered the study. Cargill Juan spoke to them as if he already knew them and asked them to take on another job.”

“Who did he say the target was?”

“Yes, he clearly stated that it was Hunter Min Siwoo.”

“What did he instruct Martinez Hunter to do?”

“Oh my god. He told me to follow the assassins and do whatever they told me to do. I was scared, I was. They visited Cargill Juan’s mansion again last night. I saw them clearly with my own two eyes.”

The meeting room erupted into chaos at Marco and Martinez’s successive revelations.

In particular, Cargill Juan’s supporters shouted at Cargill Juan, demanding an explanation for this turn of events.

Cargill Juan trembled as he glared at the two men who had come forward and shouted incoherently.

“I, I. . . This is all a conspiracy, a conspiracy! That’s right, this is all Edward’s doing!! What if those low-ranking agents committed perjury!!”

However, Marco chuckled as if his words held no value.

“Don’t worry, Cargill Juan. Everything from the moment we first met to just before we arrived here has been recorded.”

“M-Marco. . . How could you do this to me. . . You damn rat!! Aagh!!”

Cargill Juan staggered forward and raised his hand as if to grab him by the throat.

At that moment, Siwoo stepped forward, twisted his arm, and slammed him to the ground.

Kwaaaang!!

“Kuak!! Uwaaagh!! T-This bastard is killing people!!”

“I will heal you if you are about to die. And moderator, I have additional information regarding the assassination attempt.”

“What is it. . . Hunter Min Siwoo.”

The moderator asked, looking at him with an anxious expression.

“Cargill Juan has ties to 〈Pandemonium〉. Furthermore, there are executives and Hunters in this very meeting room who have taken their money.”

“What. . . Is that true?!”

“Close off the exits immediately and prevent the criminals from escaping.”

When the moderator stuttered in response to Siwoo’s words, Edward stood up from his seat and shouted at the Hunters.

“Special-grade agents, block the exits! High-ranking agents, monitor everyone in the meeting room! If you detect any signs of magic use, you are authorized to use deadly force!”

“Yes, sir!”

“We will carry out your orders!”

The agents sprang into action at Edward’s words and spread out to detect any traces of magic.

“H-How did this happen?”

“Edward. . . No, Lord Blackwood, we had no idea! We just supported Cargill Juan!”

“That’s right! We may have received a little money. . . But we will return it all! No, we will pay several times the fine!”

Those who had supported Cargill Juan began to deny any connection with him in a panic.

The room quickly descended into chaos.

In the midst of it all, people who tried to escape were caught, and some were even fatally wounded as they fought hand-to-hand with special-grade agents.

“This is a complete mess. . . It’s all your fault.”

Edward clutched his head and glared at Siwoo.

“Isn’t that what politics is all about?”

“You annoying little orc stuck in a dragon’s tooth, clean up this mess.”

“That will be easy.”

Siwoo opened another file on the USB instead of the moderator.

The faces of all the people in the HSIU who were in cahoots with 〈Pandemonium〉 appeared on the giant screen.

He stepped onto the stage, tapped the microphone, and opened his mouth.

“To all the distinguished guests, please remain seated. We have more than enough evidence, so please refrain from resisting. Oh, Vice-President Edward. Would you please call a lie-detection Hunter to this location? Let’s deal with this right now.”

“That’s not a problem. . . But what about 〈Pandemonium〉?”

“I’ve already sent someone to deal with them, so don’t worry.”

🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

A business hotel in Baltimore Hill.

Lo-an stood in front of a hotel room and kicked the door open.

Kwaaaang!!

“Ugh, damn it. Where did things start to go wrong.”

Crowel sighed as he placed the apple he was holding on the table.

He had felt uneasy about something, but he never would have guessed that things would turn out like this.

He glared at the person who had appeared at the entrance and widened his eyes.

“You look familiar. . . Don’t tell me the world’s 18th ranker has come to catch me?”

Crowel swallowed a laugh at Lo-an’s extraordinary aura.

This was real.

‘𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵.’

Crowel pretended to be indifferent and stood up from his seat, looking around as he asked.

“Since we’ve been caught anyway, I’ll ask you this. When did Min Siwoo first learn of my plan?”

“Who knows? My master knows everything.”

Lo-an glared at Crowel with the eyes of a tiger.

“Can we not. . . resolve this through conversation?”

“No, 〈Pandemonium〉.”

“I see. Then I have no choice but to fight.”
