Chapter 63: Julian’s heart
“If you don’t mind, I’ll go back to my room.”
“No, I can’t let you go in alone.”
As Julian-sama had said, he led me to the sickbay room. He guided me to one of the beds lined up and sat down on the chair placed next to it.
The school nurse had kindly closed the curtains around the bed, making it convenient for the two of us to be alone in the space.
Clearly, this school is a world that favors high-ranking nobles.
“Are you okay? Do you want me to bring you some water?”
Julian-sama kindly took care of me as I lay down on the bed. I shook my head and unconsciously reached out my hand toward him.
“Alise…?”
“I wish for Julian-sama to be happy.”
I just said that and quickly averted my eyes. I tried to pull my hand back, but he caught it with his fingers.
“Ju…Julian-sama.”
“Please, Alise, don’t leave me. If you’re gone, I…”
The hoarse voice stimulated my tear ducts. Lately, this is all we’ve been doing. It’s unlike us, and a dark, sad feeling envelopes my heart.
“Julian-sama is very charming, even without the name Stratis. Surely, I’m not the only one who thinks so.”
“I don’t care what anyone else thinks besides you.”
“Princess Chai will surely give you what you desire.”
“I don’t want that kind of thing!”
I heard him raise his voice for the first time. However, the gray eyes that stared back at me were not filled with anger, but rather sadness.
Julian-sama tightened his grip on my hand and pulled me closer. His body temperature flowed into me and melted with mine.
“What are you so afraid of? It’s as though you’re seeing something that I can’t see.”
“I, I…”
Julian-sama noticed that I had started to tremble slightly and he slowly, gently stroked my head. His hair, illuminated by the sunlight streaming through the window, looked very mystical.
“I’m sorry. I told you not to get anxious.”
“…Please don’t apologize.”
“I don’t want to let go of you. So, I’ll do what I can for that. It’s pathetic to just cling to you like a child forever.”
Surprised by his unexpected words, I sat up and Julian-sama smiled softly, as if telling me that everything is okay.
“Alise, I’m sorry for making you feel bad. I can’t be by your side even though I have you as my fiancee.”
“It’s okay, I…”
“Please trust me and wait, Alise.”
It’s just that I wanted their relationship to deepen. Even if he cancels our engagement and chooses her, I have decided never to hold a grudge.
If he goes to Slophone, I will never have anything to do with him again. That way, I won’t have to fear that ending anymore.
I’m sure Julian-sama will be able to be happy too——
“I, I…”
I just couldn’t answer. He continued to gently stroke my head.
