Chapter 24: Because I got bored

How ironic. I was by his side for over a decade, yet it’s only been these past two years that I’ve become intimately familiar with his character, as I have been so reluctant to be involved with him.

I used to think that Julian-sama was always expressionless, but upon closer observation, that’s not entirely true. Well, he’s still a child, so he may not be able to hide his expressions completely.

Besides, he’s very self-centered and doesn’t listen to what others have to say.

Now that we are engaged, there’s nothing I can do about it. Even if I struggle, breaking off the engagement between our families is not easy. Given my history of taking advantage of such customs, I’m certain there’s no mistake in what I’m saying.

Before worrying about the engagement between him and me, I have to deal with the fact that I’m the one who caused my past self to die. Julian-sama as he is now is only an obstacle to me as I try to better myself.

“Her Majesty the Queen is apparently going to give you around twenty dresses soon.”

“Well, 20 dresses! I wonder if they will fit in my closet. I should probably get rid of some of the dresses I already have…”

No, that’s not good! That kind of thinking is one of the reasons why I can be so selfish.

I calm my glittering eyes with a blink and clear my throat, then turn to Julian-sama sitting next to me.

“Could you please tell the queen for me, Julian-sama? I appreciate it very much, but I can’t accept so many dresses.”

“Why not?”

“Well, it’s because I want to cherish the dresses I already have. And if I could receive just one present from the queen, I would cherish it very much.”

I finish speaking and stand up confidently. Yes, this is the behavior of a good, modest young lady. No matter how much wealth one has, a well-mannered person never indulges in luxuries.

Julian-sama looked at me and blinked his eyes a few times. Then, without any expression, he pointed his slender index finger towards my chest.

“You don’t really think that, do you?”

“I..”

“Why lie? To please her Majesty? Well, don’t worry, she’s more extravagant than you are…”

Before he finished speaking, I stood up from the bench with force. Without hiding my red face, which was flushed with anger, I stared at him with all my might.

“What do you know about my feelings! Don’t speak as if you know everything!”

“Aliseteen.”

“I don’t want to talk to you anymore!”

Facing away from him as if a sound was about to go off, I quickly ran towards Lili and hugged her. Although my big eyes were about to overflow with tears, I gritted my teeth and held them back.

“Ojo-sama, about His Highness…”

“I know! I’ll apologize later, but right now, I just want to go home!”

“Ojo-sama…”

I hold onto Lili’s waist and stubbornly refuse to look at Julian-sama. Amidst the commotion of Lili and the other Quatra servants panicking, only Julian-sama’s calm voice was oddly resonating.

“Don’t worry about me, just take Aliseteen and go home.”

“Your Highness.”

“Come on, hurry up.”

Lili apologized to him several times on my behalf, but I didn’t care and jumped onto the Quatra’s carriage.

I never want to see Julian’s face again.
