Stephan stood up. But with one glare from Theodore-sama, he sat down.
Despite the cool conference room with the windows open, sweat was pouring from his cheeks like a waterfall.
Stephan sat down with a bitter look on his face. Seeing Stephan for the first time in a long time, I felt that he looked much more worn out than the him in my memory. Had his skin always been so loose? Had he always been so hunched over?
Simon and the maid took their seats at the end of the tableーーand with all the parties present, Theodore-sama looked at Stephan.
“Let’s hear from Count Strelitzi first. It was a sudden visit, but what was the urgent matter?”
Overlapping with Theodore-sama’s words, Stephan rattled off quickly.
“I came to withdraw the divorce from my ex-wife, Chloe.”
“Hold on a minute. What did you say?! What about my position?!”
The one raising her voice was Owenna.
Stephan glared at the woman who had been so sweet-faced with hatred.
“You shut up. Damn it, you’re causing unnecessary commotion.”
After saying this as if spitting it out, Stephan quickly changed his expression and spoke to Theodore-sama with an upward glance, as if trying to please him.
“Margrave Heyerdahl. I realized after Chloe was gone, how important she is. I came here because I want her to come back to Strelitzi.”
