Marie and her companions are on a quest to defeat the Sorcerer King in the Far East.
Along the way, they encounter a Yokai called Ittanmomen and manage to defeat it.
ㅤ
“I’m kinda tired.”
『You’ve just been sitting in the wagon the whole time. What’s there to be tired about? . . . . . .Ugh!』
ㅤ
Using her telekinetic magic, Marie wrings the black cat demon, Ose, like a rag.
ㅤ
“Even sitting can make your butt sore.”
『Grrr!』
ㅤ
Kaito, the animal-eared chef, perks up his ears and says,
ㅤ
“This feeling. . . . . .It’s humans. There’s a village nearby!”
“Good job, Kaito. Unlike a certain cat.”
“Hehehe. . . . . .♡”
ㅤ
Marie tickles Kaito’s neck.
Meanwhile, the black cat known as Ose lets out a sigh.
ㅤ
『So, Witch-sama, what will you do?』
“We’ll find a place to stay. I can’t stand sleeping outdoors.”
ㅤ
Marie is a former Duke’s daughter.
As a daughter of nobility, she has never had to sleep outside and doesn’t want to.
ㅤ
“I want to sleep in a fluffy bed.”
『It’s a small village, you know? There might not be a bed. And who says they’ll let us stay?』
“Why not?”
『Well, considering the current situation in this country.』
ㅤ
The Far East is currently in chaos due to the Sorcerer King.
Various supernatural creatures are attacking the villagers.
ㅤ
It’s easy to imagine that no one has the capacity to host strangers.
However. . . . . .
ㅤ
“Kaito, lead the way to the village.”
“Yes!”
『Well, don’t blame me.』
ㅤ
Kaito identifies the location, and Marie moves the wagon with magic.
They arrive at a small village before long.
ㅤ
Marie elegantly steps down from the wagon. However. . . . . .
ㅤ
“How strange, there’s no one to greet us.”
『Who do you think you are. . . . . .』
ㅤ
Kaito looks around.
ㅤ
“But no one is in the village. Although, I hear something. . . . . .sobbing.”
ㅤ
Something seems off.
Marie makes a visibly displeased face.
She doesn’t want her peace disturbed.
But they plan to stay here today.
ㅤ
So she’ll put in a little effort.
They find the villagers, who are crying and kneeling.
ㅤ
“Are you alright? What happened?”
ㅤ
Kaito, concerned, speaks to a nearby villager.
ㅤ
“Sniff. . . . . .umm. . . . . .you guys are. . . . . .?”
“We’re travelers! What has happened?”
“The truth is. . . . . .women from the village were killed by the monster Ittanmomen. . . . . .”
ㅤ
Beside the sobbing villagers, many women lie in an eternal sleep.
ㅤ
“Waaah!””Mooom!””Mamaaaaa!”
ㅤ
It seems that before Marie and her group defeated Ittanmomen, it had suffocated the women of the village.
ㅤ
Though physically unharmed, the women don’t wake up.
Even the loud cries of the children don’t stir them.
ㅤ
“. . . . . .”
ㅤ
Marie grimaces and says,
ㅤ
“This is unpleasant.”
ㅤ
Kaito interprets this as,
(Witch-sama. . . . . .she must be angry at the monster Ittanmomen for killing the women!)
ㅤ
Kaito thinks the witch is morally indignant.
But the reality is different.
ㅤ
(These kids. . . . . .are so loud. . . . . .)
ㅤ
Marie plans to stay here.
Yet, the children’s crying is disruptive.
ㅤ
So, she said it was unpleasant.
She’s not angry about the women being killed by the Yokai.
ㅤ
Marie sighs.
She hands Kaito something she created with Spatial Magic.
ㅤ
“Make the women drink this.”
“Eh. . . . . .? Yes!”
ㅤ
Kaito obediently nodded and began administering the medicine to the women.
After a short while…
ㅤ
“Ugh… Where is this…? Did I… did I die?”
ㅤ
The women who had died due to Ittanmomen all simultaneously came back to life.
ㅤ
“Amazing, Witch-sama! What did you do?”
“I gave them a resurrection potion.”
ㅤ
Marie pulls out a bottle from an empty space.
ㅤ
“This is a spirit elixir for returning from death. If taken shortly after dying, it can revive someone.”
“A, amazing! Witch-sama, you can even bring the dead back to life!”
ㅤ
Kaito’s sensitivity meter maxes out and keeps rising.
The villagers all bow down to Marie.
ㅤ
“Thank you, Witch-sama! What can we offer as our gratitude. . . . . .?”
ㅤ
Then Marie speaks, as she always does.
Yes, as always. . . . . .
ㅤ
“Don’t get me wrong. I simply couldn’t stand the sound of crying children.”
“””. . . . . .!”””
ㅤ
The villagers are shocked by Marie’s words and then. . . . . .start crying.
ㅤ
“So kind. . . . . .Like a goddess. . . . . .Oh, Witch-sama. . . . . .”
ㅤ
Why are they so grateful?
As Marie is tilting her head, Ose approaches and says,
ㅤ
『Witch-sama, just to clarify, you meant that you revived them because the sound of the crying kids was unbearable, right?』
“? What other meaning could there be?”
ㅤ
What else indeed. It’s as if the words of the protagonist from a hero’s tale, who simply can’t stand to see a child cry.
ㅤ
“Witch-sama is truly an extraordinary person!”
ㅤ
Kaito also becomes teary-eyed and tells Marie with a smile,
ㅤ
“There was no tsundere this time, huh. . . . . .!”
ㅤ
. . . . . .Marie became indifferent and casually muttered, “I guess so.”
