The Anima, wandering through the Magellanic Stream, detected a wave.
‘. . . The wave of our kin?’
The wave sensed was something only chimerazcould write, and only chimerazcould recognize.
‘The Large Magellanic Cloud.’
The source of the ripple, there it was. A chimerazwas there.
She moved the flock, following the familiar ripple. The ripple sent a clearer intention as they approached the Large Magellanic Cloud.
‘Who are you?’
➖I am nameless.
A being who writes a chimerazripple is using human language.
‘A chimera?’
➖Yes. I am a mindual body in the deep core of the self-replicating protein satellite. I have been passively evolving under the master’s orders, concealing my existence until my kin visited me.
‘Master?’
➖Kemet Agele Kreion. A direct descendant of the great mother who conceived our blood and flesh. A member of collective consciousness ranking 1st. . . . I serve him as my master.
The Euryale and Lemegeton fleet of the Ring Phalanx entered the Large Magellanic Cloud. Countless stars were ahead of them and the light of the celestial bodies grew faint as they moved away from them into the empty universe.
‘Oh, that’s you. The organic matter sold to the Aooa Fleet.’
➖I can feel the ruler’s wave from you. But you are not my master.
➖. . . What are you? What are you, leading those gigantic kinsmen, and appearing from the outside?
‘Anima Selas. I am the second ruler of chimeraz. I came to the Magellanic Clouds to expand our race according to Kreion’s will.’
➖Can you prove that you are the second ruler of chimera?
‘I don’t need to prove it.’
➖. . .?
‘I am the ruler. You must obey my orders unconditionally.’
Anima sent a strong wave to the nameless being. The wave containing the ruler’s coercion touched the mind of the nameless being.
➖Seeing that my mind serving the master does not reject you. . . It seems like the master recognized your autonomous ruling authority.
‘Now that you know, tell me your location.’
➖I shall.
The Tarantula Nebula of the Large Magellanic Cloud. Young stars were in the vast and low-density H II region.
The planets of the powerful race called Crolr were densely located in the Tarantula Nebula, and the nameless being was hiding in the first self-replicating protein satellite of the ‘Craclot’ star system in its core.
‘You can connect the wave with me in real time from that distance. Do you have psychic relaying capabilities?’
➖I am also a gigantized individual who received a branch of genes before the first Mind Repeater was created.
‘I see.’
➖But, Anima-nim. The gigantic living being you are riding on and the living beings forming the ring phalanx around you. They are our kin, aren’t they?
‘Euryale and Lemegeton fleet. It’s a chimeraz ship.’
➖Oh, I am impressed. To think that our race has evolved so much. It’s an astonishing evolution rate.
‘You’re a kind of brain, right? Hidden in the core of the self-replicating protein satellite. . .?’
➖Since it’s a cluster of neuron-based neural tissues, it’s not wrong to describe it as a brain.
‘You don’t have your own fleet?’
➖No. I just existed after evolving my mind to a minimum level.
‘I want your body. Organic resources of that size would be about the same as three highly developed colonies.’
➖I can give you everything I have if you come to me. But the Crolr are the problem.
Anima remembered something she’d forgotten for a moment.
‘Come to think of it, why are you in Crolr territory? I heard that you sold the organic matter resources to the Aooa Fleet ruling the Small Magellanic Cloud.’
➖The Crolr always take things from the Aooa. I was originally supposed to provide food for the young of the Aooa race in the Small Magellanic Cloud, but one day, the Crolr suddenly appeared and brought me here.
➖And now the Crolr are preying on me, tearing my flesh. As if they don’t know that I can create food on my own without them tearing my flesh. . . My size is getting smaller day by day.
‘Fools. Why bother using a knife when they can just let it be, and it’ll make food?’
➖The Aooa were better. Anima-nim. Can you save me? I don’t want to die with my body torn apart like this.
Anima felt the will to survive transmitted from the nameless being.
‘Why do you want to live?’
➖I was born. But I have never seen my master’s face, nor heard their voice. I have never seen our race evolve and grow. I just existed. I lived such a short life.
➖I don’t want to die meaninglessly like this, without achieving anything. Even if I have to die, I want to die after being helpful to my kin.
Originally, he could have continued to live by stably supplying food to the Aooa, but because of the Crolr, his life was threatened.
➖If I die like this, I’ll just end up filling the Crolr race’s stomachs. To be born and die filling another species’ stomach without any resistance. As a chimera, is there a more miserable and pathetic death than this?
I don’t know how big the size of his brain is, but it seems like he has become a being capable of deep thinking, at least higher than a leader’s.
How lonely must the fight have been, waiting endlessly for his master who never showed up? It must have been agonizing to feel his days getting shorter every time his body was cut by another species.
Yet, amidst all that, he evolved on his own without Kreion’s help and gained his own mind.
‘I said, I need the resources that make up your body.’
➖Yes.
‘But that’s not all.’
➖Is there anything else you want from me?
‘Become my adjutant.’
➖An adjutant is. . . Like the noble ‘Ludwig-nim’. . .
‘I highly value your mind.’
Anima’s red eyes reflected the irregular bars of the Large Magellanic Cloud, containing the future.
‘The chimeraz will conquer the Crolr. I need your strength for that.’
➖Ah. . .
Surprise.
Awe.
Loyalty.
Ecstasy.
And desire.
The desire to live. The desire to realize his ideals.
➖. . . I swear by the great master that I will join Anima-nim’s cause with all my might.
‘Good.’
Kreion gave Anima ‘freedom’.
‘Let’s conquer the Large Magellanic Cloud together.’
Anima gave the lonely child a ‘dream’.
