My Children Swarm the Cosmos – Chapter 29.2

Before they knew it, a battle had started at that distant spaceport as well. Were they drenched in blood and scorched by fire, a swarm of crimson chimerazes was assaulting the spaceport’s defense line, passing through and slaughtering people.

The chimerazes gliding or flying below the spaceport’s low ceilings seemed to be openly bombing the defenseless crowd.

He couldn’t stand to watch that gruesome massacre.

Darwin shouted urgently.

“Blow it up. . .! Blow it up right now!”

“I activated it. . . I remotely activated the nuclear fusion reactor. . .”

“Then why isn’t it blowing up?!”

I don’t know.

There was no human who could answer Darwin’s question.

“It looks like that monster. . . no, the chimeraz. . . has infiltrated the facility’s systems.”

“So just leave it. . .? Just like that?”

𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘪𝘪𝘪𝘬.

The private took off the frustrating combat helmet.

His expression was completely drained.

“It would be best to retreat the fleet first then regroup all forces and return. Realistically, there is nothing we can do for them right now.”

Even though he had finally made a decision, he was told that those monsters had even blocked that option from the source.

It was like a death sentence.

“No, no. . . What have I done. . .”

While watching the spaceport of Apoptology get further away, those who succeeded in escaping could do nothing but despairingly watch the deaths of those who could not escape.

🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹

At the very center of Apoptology is a nuclear fusion reactor that supplies power to the entire facility.

Kreion broke through all the troops that were deployed to that position and entered the sturdy nuclear fusion reactor facility.

In the very tall interior, there was a bulbous, round structure that took up almost all the space, looking like the nuclear power plants of the past.

And in the control room chair for managing the fusion power generator, reactor, cooling system, etc., sat a single Elite.

The Elite’s five fingers were like the bodily transformations Kreion often used, becoming tentacles that dug into the main computer of the control room.

Kreion, in black armor, asked the Elite entering the control room:

“You got the signal?”

𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘨. . .

The Elite nodded.

“That’s probably a kind of self-destruct protocol. Good thing you broke through this far.”

The Elite moved its jaw, clacking its teeth, and sent a wave to Kreion.

That wave was not in the form of language, but rather sending information and intention.

“APT. 2620E164189FD. Did that get access to the cooling system and gravity coil system?”

𝘒𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘨. . . 𝘒𝘳𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘳. . .

“Then this is a method to destabilize the equilibrium state of the fusion and make it explode.”

Kreion himself pressed the buttons on the main computer to set the facility to explode. The contents were output as easy to see holograms.

「Countdown Reset」

「Time Remaining Until Destabilization of Equilibrium State 25 Minutes」

“That human called the leader made a surprisingly quick decision. . . It will explode on my timing, not theirs, though.”

𝘒𝘳𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘱!

“Right. If this system does not obey after 25 minutes, directly destroy the cooling system and gravity coils yourself. Then it will explode on its own.”

Kreion laid out countermeasures for what would happen next, then went back down the bloody path he had come from.

All that was left on the path was dried blood and scattered shell casings, as the horde had eaten all the flesh.

Kreion kept walking. He passed through the experimental wing being trampled by Xenotera and entered a passageway with bloodstained footprints.

While walking like that, he stopped in front of a bulkhead.

「Genetically Modified Fruit Tree Garden」

「Authentication Successful: Haber Heydrich」

The Fly that was stuck to the front of the barrier flew away in front of Kreion’s nose after hovering in place.

‘𝘗𝘩𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩.’

━𝐘𝐞𝐬.

‘𝘋𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯.’

𝘊𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬!

A tentacle extending from Kreion’s ribs pierced through the gap in the barrier and forced its way inside.

𝘚𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘢𝘬!!!

A noisy metallic sound rings out as the barrier is forced open.

Two men in suits, five soldiers armed with full body combat gear and energy rifles.

Among them was an unidentified white haired woman. And the most familiar human face to Kreion.

Now he calls his name.

“Haber. Heydrich. . .”

🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹

Gats is the strongest elite among the top elite individuals selected as the guard of Kreion. And Gats, who was recognized for his strength, became an even more evolved being at the hands of Kreion.

Unlike other elites, Gats’s exoskeleton is composed of clean biological tissues that can handle drastic energy and material metabolism. Such a design resembled a combination of a human combat suit and Kreion’s black armor.

“. . .That’s how humans starved the being who became the first matrix of our species to death through experiments with the master. . .”

Gats was listening to the story Ludwig was telling in the throne room.

“What did the mother of the chimeraz look like?”

“She was truly a beautiful person. . . Although when I saw her she had already passed away, if I had been held in her arms, I would have felt a maternal love beyond description. . .”

“Since Agele-nim’s rank is 1st, I guess his mother would be rank 0.”

“I suppose so. . .”

“What is the rank order of our species’ collective consciousness?”

“The master is 1st, I am 2nd, Nazar is 3rd, Phlegeth is 4th, and Berne is 5th. . .”

“Then what rank am I?”

“The guards are all the children you will rule over. . . So you have no rank. . .”

The hierarchical order is absolute for the chimeras. Therefore, all chimeras inherently know what collective consciousness is above and below them through waves or from birth.

Gats is an intellectual life form, but has stepped outside the ranks because he is not the leader.

“Thank you for letting me know. Your words have been very helpful to me, Ludwig-nim.”

Gats expressed his gratitude, but somehow Ludwig did not respond. His eyelids torn vertically were half closed.

“Ludwig-nim?”

Ludwig’s mind was focused elsewhere.

It was a wave sent by Nazar, who was scouting the dark nebula.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘢𝘺. . .? 𝘕𝘢𝘻𝘢𝘳. . . 𝘚𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. . .’

It was an scheduled event.
