Ch 724: Slaying The Blackscale Lion
Li Hanzhou maintained constant vigilance, advancing instead of retreating in the face of the approaching Black Scale Lion, and slashed several Sword Lights with his materialized Long Sword.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The Black Scale Lion’s scales were truly extraordinary. Li Hanzhou’s probing strikes only resulted in sparks flying, failing to pierce its flesh.
“Such strong Defense!”
Li Hanzhou gripped his sword with both hands. His body, comparable to a Divine Transformation Stage cultivator, no longer held back, and he brought the sword down on the charging Black Scale Lion.
Clang!
The blade rebounded slightly. A few Cracks appeared on the Black Scale Lion’s scales. Li Hanzhou struck again with a backhand swing, precisely at the same spot, cleaving the ferocious lion’s head in two.
Seeing its kindred slain, the Black Scale Lion showed no Fear, but instead became even more ferocious. Taking advantage of the gap between Li Hanzhou’s two strikes, it swiftly swarmed forward.
Li Hanzhou surveyed his surroundings, his toes tapping the ground as he leaped backward, instantly widening the Gap.
This Assessment is quite difficult…
“The Black Scale Lion’s Defense is extremely strong, and there are many of them. They are also fast. An average Nascent Soul Stage cultivator facing them would likely be torn to shreds in an instant.
But I walk the Way of Thunder. In terms of Speed, the Black Scale Lion is no match for me. They don’t even qualify to injure me.”
However, this materialized Long Sword is far inferior to the Thousand Thunder Tribulation.
“If I had the Thousand Thunder Tribulation, combined with the World Purifying Divine Thunder, the Black Scale Lion’s Defense would absolutely not withstand a single strike from me. But now, it takes several strikes to break through. In terms of Defense, they’re comparable to Divine Transformation Stage cultivators.”
“They’re nothing but punching bags.”
Li Hanzhou had a plan, maintaining a distant yet close proximity to the oncoming tide of Black Scale Lions.
Clang!
A Black Scale Lion approached Li Hanzhou, who struck its neck with his Long Sword, flashing with Lightning Light. It stumbled and fell to the ground.
Li Hanzhou wanted to deliver another strike to finish it off, but other Black Scale Lions had already closed in, forcing Li Hanzhou to retreat.
The scales of the Black Scale Lion on the ground were shattered, with blood subtly seeping out. As it tried to get up, its kindred continuously trampled over it, their eyes fixed on Li Hanzhou!
Li Hanzhou’s strike only inflicted a Minor Injury. The careless trampling of its kindred, however, caused its wound to burst open, blood flowing down its mane onto the ground.
Its originally powerful roar turned into a whimper. The Black Scale Lion on the ground did not rise again…
“Is their Consciousness so low?”
Li Hanzhou had found the perfect Method, no longer blindly pursuing kills, aiming for injuries with each strike.
One by one, the Black Scale Lions fell. Li Hanzhou leisurely accompanied them in circles, occasionally guiding them to trample on the already fallen ones again.
This Method was safe and effortless, but… quite time-consuming.
Outside Nine Realms Mountain, amidst the broken Ruins, the White-Clothed Scholar was still gulping down wine from his Wine Gourd.
Qin Luotian stared at the nine Gems indicating progress, his heart filled with Worry:
“It’s been almost twelve Hours, and Brother Li still hasn’t passed the second stage…”
“No, I think you should marvel at how formidable this Nascent Soul Stage Little Fellow is. He’s held on for almost a day and hasn’t come out yet.”
The White-Clothed Scholar sat lazily on the ground, holding his Gourd in both hands, at ease:
“Those hundred Black Scale Lions, their Defensive Power is comparable to Nascent Soul Peak demonic beasts. He’s a Nascent Soul Stage cultivator with a Low-grade Spirit Artifact; he probably wouldn’t even be able to break their defenses. Right now, he’s probably just running away.”
“He is… someone both Elder Meng and I value…”
Qin Luotian had great confidence in Li Hanzhou, but the wait was truly agonizing, so he bid farewell to the White-Clothed Scholar.
The entire Assessment would last three months; a temporary stalemate or failure wouldn’t matter. Li Hanzhou still had plenty of time.
Qin Luotian firmly believed that Li Hanzhou would pass the fourth stage of Nine Realms Mountain and become a Silver Medal Inspector.
“Senior Jiu, I will visit you again in three months.”
“Go, go. I’m fine here. I’ll keep an eye on that Little Fellow you’re fond of.”
The White-Clothed Scholar didn’t mind Qin Luotian leaving. He swayed drunkenly, racking his brains to come up with a few words, but couldn’t even compose a single sentimental poem.
“Hmm?!”
Sensing something, the White-Clothed Scholar suddenly looked up. He saw that the second Gem on the building had lit up:
“A Nascent Soul Stage cultivator, twelve hours, killing a hundred Black Scale Lions—not bad…”
“However, it was so swift; his consumption must be considerable. The third level will be difficult…”
“The third level? What’s so difficult about that…”
Li Hanzhou slowed his pace, calming his mind slightly before continuing forward.
What appeared before him was the same Black Robed Person as on the first level.
Li Hanzhou did not rush to attack, but instead reflected on his previous experiences.
First, the Black Robed Person, then the Fierce Beast, and now the Black Robed Person again. Then the fourth stage…
“There must be some Pattern here…”
Li Hanzhou pondered for a long time without any leads, so he focused his attention on the enemy before him.
The Black Robed Person, who had been waiting for a long time, now revealed his killing intent.
“I gave you the chance to strike first, yet you just stand there, clueless!”
The Black Robed Person held his Battle Saber horizontally, looking down at Li Hanzhou with disdain:
“Someone like you has reached their limit here!”
“We’re both Nascent Soul Stage cultivators, but your attitude is quite arrogant.”
Li Hanzhou didn’t bother with more nonsense. Lightning Light flashed from his Long Sword, and his Figure instantly closed the distance, like a silver serpent roaring out, its maw ready to tear everything apart.
Without any change, the same strike that had instantly killed the Black Robed Person on the first level was unleashed again.
However, this time, the ribbon-like Lightning Light from Li Hanzhou’s sword was completely blocked by a Battle Saber!
“Hmm?” Li Hanzhou’s mind stirred. This Black Robed Person’s reaction was incredibly fast!
“That was a swift strike. If it were an ordinary Nascent Soul Stage cultivator, they would already be dead under your sword!” The Black Robed Person sneered. “Unfortunately, you’ve met me!”
Having gained the advantage, the Black Robed Person no longer gave Li Hanzhou a chance. He swung his Battle Saber continuously, as if cleaving the wind, with strands of wind swirling around, transforming into countless Wind Blades that filled the heavens.
“This is… the Way of Wind?”
Li Hanzhou’s Figure flickered, Lightning Arcs leaping across his body, narrowly dodging the blade several times!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Sword Light erupted, completely blocking the Black Robed Person’s Offensive.
The Black Robed Person on the third level, although at the same Realm as the one on the first level, was significantly stronger.
His blade contained the Way of Wind; he was a Nascent Soul Stage cultivator who had comprehended the Dao Realm.
“Such a powerful Wind,” Li Hanzhou felt his wrists numb from the shock.
But that was all.
Li Hanzhou had already seen through the Black Robed Person’s Moves. His body transformed into lightning; his sword was faster.
He severed numerous Wind Blades and with one strike, struck the Black Robed Person’s blade hilt.
“So fast!”
The Black Robed Person had thought that the initial strike was Li Hanzhou’s limit, but he was even faster!
The Dao Realm of the Way of Wind excelled in Speed. For the first time facing someone of the same Realm, he was utterly crushed by such a large Gap.
“I underestimated you!”
Understanding that his Offensive couldn’t overcome Li Hanzhou, the Black Robed Person shifted his Long Saber, aiming for a Defensive stance to wait for an opening.
However, when the Black Robed Person looked again, he found Li Hanzhou’s hands empty.
He didn’t know when, but Li Hanzhou had discarded his sword!
No good!
The Black Robed Person sensed the wind behind him and turned to strike without hesitation.
Unfortunately, his intentions were seen through, and there was no sound of weapons clashing.
The flying sword that was supposed to pierce his back stopped. The Lightning Light on the sword intensified, beginning to circle him, occasionally attacking his defensive gaps.
Unlike the Black Robed Person’s Way of Wind, which sought swift victory through speed, Li Hanzhou’s Way of Thunder was unpredictable in stillness, but deadly in motion.
