Oswald finally arrived at the 13th district, and immediately put the robe back on in the alley. It was more conspicuous to wear the Academy uniform in a crowded place.

He pulled down the hood attached to the robe and asked for directions to the ‘Breath of the Wind’ that Hecaton’s Arkhini had told him.

The ‘Breath of the Wind’ was a light-hearted teahouse. Inside, couples were enjoying their time together, having tea and snacks.

As he sat down in a suitable place, a waiter approached and handed him a menu.

“I’d like a cup of Mandala’s Eye.”

“Please wait a moment.”

The waiter took the menu back. Soon after, a cup of tea arrived with a newspaper. The tea was regular coffee, and the newspaper contained a map of the central sewer.

While enjoying a cup of coffee, Oswald examined the map. It showed in detail the route from this place to the slave market through the nearest location. In the game, it was not difficult to find the path because it was marked on the floor. However, there was no such thing here, so the map was essential.

After finishing his coffee, Oswald stood up and looked around to see if there were any stalkers.

‘𝘕𝘰𝘯𝘦.’

There was nothing that caught his senses, so it seemed that he could go down to the sewer as it was.

Oswald immediately entered the sparsely populated alley on the route and opened the manhole cover to enter the sewer. Then, he took out the head lantern from his magic backpack, put it on, turned on the lantern, and began to move forward while checking the map.

The labyrinthine sewer. . . How long had he been walking? When he arrived at a wide space where several sewers met, known as the sewer terminal, he heard a sound.

‘𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘷𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴?’

Vagrants settled in a place with a fairly large square. . . They were avoiding the cold and moisture rising from the sewer by burning a bonfire.

Quite a number of vagrants. . . . . . . . One peculiarity was that they all possessed weapons such as clubs and spikes.

‘𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘳 𝘬𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴. . . . . . . .’

The reason why the vagrants were not cleaned up in the Imperial capital was because they took care of the two monsters on their own. It was considered a kind of necessary evil.

Anyway, the vagrants looked at Oswald, who had just appeared, for a moment, but turned their heads away when they saw his appearance. It was obvious that he looked suspicious with his long robe and hood pulled down.

‘𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘳𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘵?’

The vagrants were roasting rats on skewers over the bonfire. . . . . . . Since this is a sewer, there must be many rats living here, so at least they won’t starve to death.

Oswald passed the section where such vagrants gathered and walked for a long time.

Soon, Oswald reached a dead end. However, this place looked like a dead end, but there was a path behind it. In a word, it meant that it was made to be blocked using illusion magic.

After that, Oswald turned off the head lantern and walked towards the wall. Soon, his body passed through the wall and entered beyond it.

Clatter. . . . . . . Suddenly, it became noisy. A large cavity came into view.

This was the slave market, one of the central underground cities. In addition to the illusion magic, the wall was covered with silence magic to block the noise inside from going outside, and space expansion magic was also used to secure a large site in this narrow space.

The slave market, which allowed people to come and go freely, was even visible to those wearing the Sword’s uniform.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯.’

After going a little further into the slave market, Oswald’s holy power began to stir within him.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴?’

Along with it, the ‘demonic power detection basic Lv.1’ that detects demonic power and the ‘sensing Lv.30’ that detects threats rang the alarm. Thanks to that, Oswald, who was startled, turned his head in a hurry, and there was a very handsome man smiling at him.

“Wow. . . . . . . I didn’t know I’d meet Chronos’ lapdog in a place like this.”

” . . . . . . . “

Chronos’ lapdog was a word used by Chaos demons to belittle demon hunters.

“Whoa, whoa, aren’t you too tense?”

” . . . . . . . “

Certainly, his body was stiffening like a Chaos demon had said. If he put too much tension on his muscles, he would not be able to move when he needed to move, so Oswald breathed evenly and relaxed his whole body.

“Don’t get ready to charge at me or anything.”

As he said so, his men, who seemed to be around him, soon rushed in.

All with different costumes and different characteristics, but all of them were staring at Oswald and were ready to attack at any time. . . . . . .

‘𝘛𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦?’

“Still, I’m glad you think a little differently from other lapdogs.”

“What do you mean?”

“Other guys compromise and attack right away.”

‘𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘣 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. . . . . . . .’

Demon hunters who fought as if they were cursed to kill the demons. . . . . . .

There was only one reason why they fought like that. Because they could become stronger by absorbing the essence that came out of the demons when they hunted the demons.

In a word, they were intoxicated and addicted to power, which made them hunt demons more zealously.

Of course, there were side effects. Once you absorb the essence, you should not absorb the essence for at least a week. . . This was because if you broke this and continued to absorb the essence of the devil, you would become corrupted and demonized.

Perhaps the biggest side effect was that more hunters died rushing in without thinking than those who fell due to side effects.

‘𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳. 𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥. . . . . . . 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.’
