“Oh, no. Another exam. Why do I always get so nervous about them?”

After a full day of classes, someone approached me and grumbled.

It was a girl I had become somewhat friendly with, Shin So-ra.

“No matter how I think about it, there are too many tests. Don’t you think so?”

“. . .I guess it’s necessary for various reasons. Besides, you’re not exactly complaining considering your grades are pretty good.”

If any of the other students heard that, they’d probably faint. Shin So-ra was one of the elites who had consistently maintained top-tier grades.

Thinking about something upon hearing my words, Shin So-ra pondered for a moment before replying.

“Now that you mention it, that might change this time.”

“Change? What?”

“Our class rankings. Up until now, the top 5 have never changed.”

1st place: Sophia.

2nd place: Hwang Ji-hak.

3rd place: Jung Han-sol.

4th place: Shin So-ra.

And 5th place: Guilford.

The rankings below that are always changing, but strangely enough, these five students have maintained their positions since their first year.

I think I remember that it never changed until graduation in the original story.

And now, Shin So-ra was saying that that record might be broken.

“Why?”

“You’re here now.”

“Because of me?”

That was an unexpected answer. I didn’t think Shin So-ra was conscious of me to that extent.

“I saw your skills last time, and I heard you’re good at studying, right? You might be able to aim for the top ranks.”

Certainly, if I went all out, it might not be impossible to achieve top-tier grades.

However, I didn’t really feel like doing that.

My grades were already good enough to take the exorcist exam early. I didn’t want to put in more effort than necessary for exams.

「𝘼𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮’𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣’𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮.」

Up until now, I had been concerned about meeting the criteria for Class A promotion, but now, it didn’t matter if I just maintained a middle-of-the-road ranking.

That’s why I chuckled and denied Shin So-ra’s words.

“Probably not. I don’t really have any ambition.”

“People who say that always end up studying like crazy later on, just like Jung Han-sol.”

“Why? What about me?”

In the middle of our conversation, another student suddenly squeezed in between us.

A brown-haired, curly-haired guy with a friendly face. It was Jung Han-sol, whom Shin So-ra had just mentioned.

“. . .How do you always show up like a ghost whenever someone’s talking about you?”

“Who’s a ghost? I can hear everything if I’m close by. Did you say something bad about me to Kang Yoon?”

“No, I didn’t. We were just talking about grades.”

As you can probably tell, Shin So-ra and Jung Han-sol are childhood friends who have been close since they were young.

Because of that, I remember that they often got involved in incidents in the story later on.

「𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.」

Ding!

【Jung Han-sol】

【Stamina: B】

【Spiritual power: A+】

【Spellcraft: A+】

【Mental Strength: A-】

As expected of someone ranked 3rd in the grade, his specs are impressive.

He also has a total of six traits. That’s quite a lot for his age.

Jung Han-sol, who had been chatting with Shin So-ra for a while, suddenly looked at me and asked.

“What do you usually do after class? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around.”

“I usually train.”

“Oh? Really? I would’ve thought we would’ve bumped into each other at some point.”

The reason for that is probably because I purposely avoided the training ground exclusive to Class A students.

“I’ve been using the old training ground up until now.”

“Here we go, another weirdo like Hwang Ji-hak. What’s so good about that place? Are you also trying to cultivate the principles of nature in a space filled with tradition and history?”

“No. I just prefer it because there aren’t many people there.”

Thinking about it, Hwang Ji-hak had said something grandiose like that.

Jung Han-sol chuckled at my answer and patted me on the back for some reason.

“You don’t like crowds, huh? I can understand that. Maybe I should start going with you from now on?”

“. . .That’s not why.”

“I’m free, so just call me whenever you’re bored. Or maybe we could play a game together?”

“Maybe later.”

Just like it was depicted in the original story, he’s quite the playful guy. I think it was also mentioned that he was supposedly a pro-level gamer in various genres.

Thinking that I’d crush his pride someday, I parted ways with the two of them and headed to the dormitory.
