A wanted order was once again issued for Bi-hyeong, and the Academy was engulfed in a storm of public opinion as it became a hot topic through various media outlets.
“What do you think about this situation?”
“Protests are pouring in from all sides.”
“The students who will lead the future of Korea are in great danger. Isn’t this a problem?”
I had seen these things in the original story, but when I actually faced them, I felt a sense of intensity.
「𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙨𝙠?」
The Academy is an educational institution, not a military organization.
To withstand Bi-hyeong’s meticulously planned surprise attack without any casualties?
To be honest, that’s not an easy task for any force in modern-day Korea.
Not to mention that the combined strength of Cheonghwa Academy was only a handful of people who had barely surpassed level 50, and even they were scattered across two locations: the Academy grounds and Yeongwol Island.
「𝙏𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝, 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘽𝙞-𝙝𝙮𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮, 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙗𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙂𝙚𝙪𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙚, 𝙨𝙤 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙪𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙩.」
However, with this, the characters in the original story had overcome a major crisis and finally entered the grand flow of the story.
A lot is going to change from now on.
Roar.
Roar.
『Do you want to train together tomorrow?』
『Yeah, sure.』
The students’ perception had also changed greatly.
In the end, they realized that in order to protect themselves in a crisis, they had to become stronger on their own.
「𝙔𝙤𝙤 𝙃𝙖-𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙩.」
And I, too, was faced with an unexpectedly big change.
「𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩.」
Ding.
【Han Kang-yoon】
▶Level 30
▶Ability Scores
【Stamina: C+】
【Spiritual power : B-】
【Spellcraft: B-】
【Mental Strength: B+】
▶Traits(3/10)
【Shadow Assimilation(S)】
【Mental Spellbook(B)】
【Revived Person(B-)】
First of all, my level had finally exceeded 30.
When I first got here, I was in my early 20s, so this could be considered a significant growth rate.
「𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙩.」
Of course, it was possible because I had gone through so much hardship. I had been constantly facing enemies who were clearly stronger than me. In a way, this level of growth was only natural.
What’s important is what comes next. That’s right, the ability scores.
「𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 2𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧. . . . . . .」
But the difference isn’t that big. Compared to my original ability scores, they’re magnificent, if not splendid.
I could guess to some extent the reason for this.
「𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨.」
I concentrated and drew out my spiritual power to the fullest.
At that, a slimy black shadow began to ooze out from various parts of my body.
The implication of this was simple.
「𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮’𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧.」
Originally, the penalty of the 2nd phase was the weakening of the Shadow Assimilation trait.
As the vast energy that had been dwelling in the shadow escaped, the size of the vessel would shrink, and its level would weaken.
In fact, even now, I could feel that the power contained within my shadow had become insignificant compared to before.
However, in the process, I underwent another change.
That is, the boundary between the shadow and the body had become somewhat blurred.
「𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚.」
Not to mention that I’ve never heard of it. In the first place, there was only one person in the exorcism series who had the Shadow Assimilation trait, and that was Shadowless.
It remains to be seen whether this will be an advantage or a disadvantage. It’s something I’ll have to observe slowly.
However, at least for now, it wasn’t all bad since it had resulted in an increase in my ability scores.
「𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡.」
But complacency is the enemy of progress.
I had to grow even more desperately in order to prepare for what was to come.
Slide.
Thud.
After organizing my thoughts, I sat down at the desk and chair in the dormitory.
Since Chapter 1 of the story is over. It’s time for me to draw a new picture.
Scratch.
Scratch.
After writing something down on a piece of paper, I folded it neatly and put it in an envelope for submission.
At the top of it was written:
【Cheongdam 2nd Defense Force Defense Mission Internship Application -】
「𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙄’𝙙 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨.」
In the world of exorcism, there is something called a defense force in each district, just like a fire station or a police station.
And in that defense force, there are exorcists who are in charge of subduing yokai that may appear out of nowhere.
It is an organization that patrols, responds to calls, and works to protect the citizens.
「𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙤 𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙥𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙙𝙨.」
Although it’s still a long way off, I, who plan to take the exorcism test early, actually have to complete two internships before the end of my second year.
There was also another reason. In fact, this time, this could be considered the main reason.
「𝙄’𝙢 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚.」
A B-rank fire demon yokai that suddenly appeared in the city center and disappeared after evading the exorcists who had been dispatched.
That yokai, which was only briefly foreshadowed, later appeared in the original story’s storyline with even greater power.
「𝘼𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩, 𝙄 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙙𝙪𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙝𝙤𝙬.」
It’s practically a safe asset with guaranteed growth to A+ rank or higher. If I could subdue it and make it my familiar, it would be a great help.
「𝙄𝙛 𝙄 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙗𝙙𝙪𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙖 𝙗𝙞𝙜 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚.」
In order to survive Act 2 of the story, which is filled with crises greater than Chapter 1, I need to build up my strength as soon as possible.
I intended to make my move before the fire demon returned stronger.
