I Became the Academy’s Genius Shikigami Summoner – Chapter 2.1

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟐

The test is over.

“. . . . . . .”

An ordinary exorcist would never understand the art of spells, even if they spent their entire life trying, and high-level spells are so difficult to use properly that it’s hard to find anyone who can use them unless they’re a 「𝙉𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙」-class or higher. And on top of that, there are rare spells of all kinds, barrier spells, shikigami, and more.

I could recall every spell I had ever used in the game if I just thought about it.

“This is ridiculously convenient.”

It was the moment when the 「𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠」, which was just a B-class trait, transformed into an overpowered cheat-like ability.

「𝙊𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚, 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨.」

To put it in extreme terms, with Han Kang-yoon’s current ability scores, his body wouldn’t be able to withstand even intermediate-level spells.

I don’t even need to mention high-level spells or grand spells, and there are also many spells that have special conditions that must be met in order to use them, beyond simply knowing them.

「𝘽𝙪𝙩.」

The difference between something that you can never use and something that you might be able to use someday is like the difference between heaven and earth.

And I was confident that if I was just given the time, I would eventually reach that level.

「𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙡𝙪𝙘𝙠. 𝙄𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨, 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧.」

There are two months left until the start of the new semester.

For me, who had planned to spend all of that time learning basic spells, this was an incredibly big advantage.

「𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚.」

I decided to start my next plan right away.

🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷🔷

As I said earlier, my first priority is to find a sponsor to get rid of the stigma of being a defective product.

So where can I find this sponsor?

In fact, there were several candidates that I had in mind.

But if you ask me if I can definitely capture their attention with who I am now, that’s a little difficult.

「𝙉𝙤, 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩.」

Seo Ji-an, a second-year student at Cheong-hwa Academy, where I belong.

With the cards I have right now, I’m sure I’ll be able to reel her in.

「𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙗𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧.」

In the original story, she’s known as the school weirdo, and she only appears occasionally in the main story.

In fact, she’s not even included in the heroine positions, so less is known about her compared to other characters.

On that topic, there were even rumors that her illustrations were so gorgeous that someone on the production team must have been biased towards her.

「𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙧 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩.」

As a member of one of the three major factions in the original story, her family has amassed a huge fortune even though they’re not from one of the three major families, so they should be able to provide me with everything I need.

Thud. Thud.

So, this is the first time I’ve been outside the dorms and looking around since I came to this world.

“. . . . . .There’s nothing different.”

That’s right.

Except for the school buildings scattered here and there on the grounds and the downtown area in the distance, there was nothing here.

But since this is a game world, there are many famous places somewhere outside the academy that don’t exist in reality. It would be a good experience to go see them in person someday.

「𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤, 𝙞𝙛 𝙄 𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮.」

Whooosh.

A cold wind blows through the night. The place where I stopped walking was the entrance to the thick forest that spread out from behind the school.

「𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮.」

One of the settings revealed in the side story novel of the original story.

Seo Ji-an practices her spells every night in the woods behind the school during vacation.

It was a setting in a novel, not the original game, so I was only half-convinced, but since it was an official setting, it was worth checking out.

Thud. Thud.

Rustle.

After walking around for a few dozen minutes, trying to get my bearings, I finally found the place I had been searching for and smiled to myself.

「𝘽𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙤.」

Teal hair that reflects the moonlight. Eyes that seem to hold the ocean. It was Seo Ji-an, just like in the original illustrations.

「𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙞𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙.」

I was staring blankly at her stunning beauty when suddenly a strong wind blew from above Seo Ji-an’s shoulders.

“Who’s there?”

To sense me from this distance, she truly had the keen senses of a nature-type spell user, an endangered species.

There was no need to put up my guard, so I pushed through the bushes and stepped forward to show my face.

“Hello.”

“. . . . . . .”

Seo Ji-an frowned and tilted her head as if she couldn’t believe that I was the one who had suddenly appeared.

Then, after a moment, she clapped her hands and said,

Clap!

“Oh, it’s the dead-last loser.”

“That’s kind of harsh, all of a sudden.”

I didn’t care what other people said, but if it had been Han Kang-yoon, he definitely would have been pretty discouraged.

Since she was in Class 1-B, she must have witnessed me making history at the school by getting demoted three times in a row, so it was inevitable that I would be remembered that way.

“So, what do you want? I can’t think of any reason why you would come looking for me in the middle of the night other than to cause trouble.”

“Can’t I just be taking a walk for fun?”

“Try again.”

Seo Ji-an’s expression turned cold at my playful words, and she intensified the wind sphere even more.

Well, it wasn’t strange for her to react that way.

This place, which she was using as a training ground, was pretty thoroughly hidden with her spells.

If I didn’t have all this information, there’s a good chance I wouldn’t have been able to find it even if I searched until I dropped dead, with my current abilities.

I raised both hands to show that I surrendered and continued speaking.

“Alright, the truth is, I came here because I have something to say to you.”

“. . .Something to say?”

“To be more specific, a proposal.”

At my words, Seo Ji-an nodded as if to say, “Go ahead and say it.” Fortunately, it seems like she has no intention of attacking me.

“You know about my situation, right? Since the rumors are flying all over the place. I need a new sponsor,”

“Support money to keep the orphanage or whatever going?”

“That too, and I have some personal expenses as well.”

Seo Ji-an didn’t seem to doubt what I was saying. That makes sense, since rumors about me being broke must have spread throughout the school.

But.

“Why are you asking me for that?”
