Choosing the Baby’s Father From the Following – Chapter 21.1

Chapter 21

“You went to the early morning service?”

Don’t tell me that’s why you had such a sour expression?

“I’ll be in my room. Thanks, Lou.”

Don’t thank me, thank Helena!

I inwardly lamented the opportunity I had missed and asked,

“You said you attended morning prayer?”

Lurick continued to look disgruntled, but his crimson eyes were a touch brighter than before.

“The abbot monk suggested it…… But Lou, to be honest……”

He lowered his voice and whispered in my ear.

“I’d much rather be taking a walk with you. If the monks are going to be like this the whole time, I won’t be able to stay here for ten days.”

No, you can’t give up like that!

“Then shall I attend the prayer service with you?”

When I asked in a hurry, flustered, Lurick chuckled as if it were absurd.

“The early morning service starts when you’re still asleep.”

“I, I can wake up early!”

A large hand patted my head.

“Prayer won’t suddenly become more interesting just because you’re there with me. It’s a rare trip for you, so you should relax.”

This isn’t right…..?

After Lurick left the dining hall, leaving me sitting there dumbfounded, Ren leaned towards me as if he had been waiting, his violet eyes sparkling.

“As expected, Your Highness is also having a hard time staying here, right? Haa, never thought I’d see the day I would sympathize with His Highness.”

I glared at Ren and grumbled.

“My brother is just having a hard time with morning prayer. Would the picky Mage Tower Master, who never has to attend prayer, please be quiet?”

“You’re only mean to me and not to His Highness.”

Ren chuckled and shoved a piece of chocolate into my mouth.

The soft, raw chocolate melted the moment it touched my tongue, but the warmth of his touch lingered on my skin.

“Cheer up, Lou. At least we have chocolate today.”

Looking at his smile, I suddenly remembered the diary I had left in the Imperial Palace.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘙𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦?’

I’m looking forward to the rest of the diary entries……

The thought made my clueless heart race again, but I had to pull myself together.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘧 𝘓𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘺?’

The remaining time was a week, maybe even shorter.

There was more unfortunate news.

The monastery was getting busier as the Sabbath approached, and I was told it was only three days away.

‘𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘺-𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥.’

My sense of urgency grew, but Lurick and Helena still hadn’t run into each other by chance.

“Evening prayers are only held the day before the Sabbath, so the monastery’s day usually starts early in the morning and ends early.”

In the afternoon, I recalled what Helena had said in the morning and set about my next plan.

“Phoebe, tell my brother to meet me at Caesarea Falls.”

“You’re not going to the falls together?”

Phoebe asked with a knowing look, but I nodded.

“I went yesterday, and the falls are quite far away. My feet would burn if I tried to keep up with my brother.”

Phoebe burst into laughter and left the room to go to Lurick.

I then called Helena again.

“Helena, I’m thinking of visiting the falls again today.”

Helena smiled brightly, as if pleased.

“I’m glad you liked the falls.”

“Yes, I’m going for a walk with my brother, so can you tell me about the hot spring falls like you did yesterday?”

Fortunately, Helena asked proactively without being asked.

“Would you like me to go ahead and set up a place for you to sit?”

“That would be great.”

After that, I was left alone in my room and dressed warmly.

My morning sickness had been getting worse these past few days, and my stomach churned as evening approached.

‘𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘥…….’

Should I tell Ren?

‘𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘺, 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺?’

I gently stroked my still-flat stomach and took another spoonful of the anti-nausea medicine.

After all, all of this was to ensure a safe delivery of the baby, so I couldn’t hesitate.
