Choosing the Baby’s Father From the Following – Chapter 19.2

After the service, we all went to the dining hall, but unfortunately, Helena was nowhere to be seen.

I was lost in thought about this new dilemma when I noticed Ren’s grumpy expression and chuckled.

He pretended to bend down and whispered to me,

“The bread is stale, and the fish is fishy. We’re really going to spend ten days here, Lou?”

He was supposed to be from a noble family, but he was shamelessly picky about his food even at the age of twenty-seven.

Well, both the Magic Tower and his hometown, Cesena, were inland, so they probably weren’t regions known for their variety of fish.

‘𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳.’

It was common in fantasy worlds for the Magic Tower and the monastery to be at odds.

‘𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘈𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘵 𝘋𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘰, 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘯.’

Thanks to Ren’s complaining, I picked up a piece of fish and tasted it, saying,

“If it’s too uncomfortable, Ren, you can go ahead to Babenberg Castle. Or back to Brentania.”

He immediately grumbled,

“Lou, you’ve been so cold lately. Usually, you’d pick up some fruit for me instead of fish and tell me to eat it. But now you’re telling me to leave if I don’t like it.”

Louise, was that really her character……?

Feeling a pang of guilt, I quickly picked up a piece of fruit and handed it to him.

“It’s not good to be picky, you know.”

I made a hasty excuse, and Ren, with a satisfied look, popped a cherry into his mouth.

“Well, I understand, Lou. You’re going through a sensitive time. Did you take your medicine?”

I chuckled and nodded.

“Thanks to that, I can even eat fish. I was thinking of going to Caesarea Falls after dinner.”

Ren said with a serious face,

“Isn’t Caesarea Falls famous for its hot spring water? It’s probably not good for you right now, Lou……”

His voice trailed off.

“It might not be good.”

Ah, he meant it wasn’t good for the baby?

I pretended not to realize it, having realized something I hadn’t thought of before.

“I’m not going to bathe in the hot springs, I’m going to see the flowers. I heard blue camellia flowers bloom around the falls.”

Ren asked cautiously,

“Can I come with you then?”

“Hmm……”

I pretended to think for a moment, but then shook my head.

I had planned to make an excuse to ditch Phoebe and go to the falls alone with Helena.

“It’s still a hot spring, so you might end up dipping your feet in. Wouldn’t Phoebe be uncomfortable?”

Ren sighed.

“That’s true. What am I supposed to do here without you?”

I simply handed him a piece of fish.

“Eat this for now.”

“I said I don’t want it……”

And to the repeatedly refusing Mage Tower Master, I whispered a secret of this world.

“I heard this is very good for men. Especially at night……”

Ren’s hand shot across the table, covering my mouth.

“Stop it, Lou. Don’t say such things if you’re not going to take responsibility……”

His voice trailed off again, for some reason.

I giggled, watching him blush.

The fish that Ren had been grumbling about being tasteless was eel.

At the end of dinner, Lurick was caught by Monk Didio and went to meditate.

I smiled vaguely at my brother, who was giving me a look of salvation, and quickly returned to my room.

Then, I rummaged through my luggage, took out an embroidery hoop, and handed it to Phoebe.

“Phoebe, here you go.”

Phoebe asked with her eyes wide open.

“Your Highness……? Why the embroidery hoop all of a sudden…….”

Originally, Louise didn’t particularly like embroidery, so Phoebe often embroidered, but she never asked me to do it.

“My brother made a huge donation to stay at the monastery, but I came empty-handed, right?”

I shrugged and continued.

“I thought it would be nice to give Monk Didio a handkerchief as a gift before I go back.”

Phoebe quickly replied with excitement.

“That’s a great idea, Your Highness. This Phoebe is very touched.”

“But Phoebe, I need it right now.”

I clutched my chest, pretending to be uncomfortable.

“My stomach has been so upset since yesterday. I think I must have gotten a bad case of indigestion because of that Lord Heim.”

“Really? What should we do? Lord Ren might have some digestive medicine……!”

As I let out a rather theatrical sigh, Phoebe hurriedly began to rub my back.

I replied with a groan of pain.

“It’s not that bad that I need medicine. I’ll just call that maid from earlier and go to the hot spring. Since time is running out, Phoebe, can you draw the outline for me in the meantime?”

Fortunately, while suffering from my incurable disease, I had dabbled in various indoor hobbies, one of which was French embroidery.

After becoming Louise, I looked at the embroidery works of this country, and luckily, there was no big difference from the embroidery I used to do.

“But…….”

Phoebe hesitated.

“Wouldn’t it be uncomfortable to be assisted by a maid you’ve never met before in the bath? She might be clumsy.”

I quickly shook my head.

“Even though the guards are guarding the entrance, I don’t want to bathe outside. I’m just going to soak my feet.”

Phoebe asked again, worriedly.

“You’re going to the hot springs near the waterfall, right? With the escort of the guards?”

“Of course.”

“Okay, then…….”

My faithful maid finally relaxed and pulled the silk on the embroidery hoop tighter to secure it.

“What kind of design should I draw?”

I smiled to myself towards Phoebe, who was asking in a determined manner.

“A blue camellia.”

“Y, You called, Your Highness?”

A little later, Helena appeared, even more flustered than before.

I was not confident in her and spoke quickly, in case Phoebe offered to come along.

“Hello, Helena. I want to visit Caesarea Falls to help digest my lunch, can you guide me there?”
