Choosing the Baby’s Father From the Following – Chapter 16.1

Chapter 16

I glanced up at Lurick and sighed with relief.

‘𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦.’

I couldn’t imagine how much her younger sister had been treated like a nuisance while he was away.

As Crown Prince Hart had harassed him, it was obvious that the other princesses would have tormented her youngest sister.

And it wasn’t just a matter between the princes and princesses.

‘𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴.’

Even on the first day of the victory banquet, the Empress had left early, using the excuse of feeling unwell.

It seemed she couldn’t even bear to congratulate Lurick on his victory.

I quickly beckoned Phoebe and asked Chilila,

“Big Sister, would you like some almond tea? It may not be the finest like we have back home, but it’s made with fresh almonds roasted with black tea.”

“Almond tea? Do you also drink that here?

I replied with a smile,

“I don’t know much about it, but Prince Flavi likes tea. Whenever there is a new shipment, he shares some with me.”

Chilila paused for a moment, seemingly displeased that I was the first to receive the new tea, but she quickly moved on.

“Ah, that doll-like, pretty prince? You two are still quite close?”

“Friendship is forever.”

She listened with a smirk, mocking my attempt to disguise the prince’s obvious affection as friendship.

‘𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘓𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦.’

Just then, Phoebe arrived with the tea set.

While I poured the tea, Chilila opened her mouth to get to the point of her long walk to the distant guesthouse.

“I heard you’re going to Babenberg.”

The answer, unexpectedly, came from Lurick.

“She’ll be accompanying me on my way to carry out His Majesty’s orders. Is there a problem?”

As expected, Chilila shrank back slightly at Lurick’s imposing presence.

“Of course not. It’s just…… I’ve never been to Babenberg, so I’m a little envious. ”

I realized that Chilila had come to ask me to take her to Babenberg as well.

But she wouldn’t dare say the same thing to Lurick.

Lurick retorted coldly,

“That’s nonsense. It’s already snowing in northern Babenberg. Every time I visit, I’m reminded that it’s no place for people to live.”

His words were as sharp as if Callisteon, who lived there, wasn’t human.

Chilila, flustered by the unexpected response, blinked her golden eyes and asked,

“Oh my, does that mean that Second Brother has no intention of marrying Louise off to Babenberg? ”

Don’t say it, please……

Anxious that Lurick might go on another rampage, I quickly filled a cup and handed it to him.

Fortunately, Lurick took a sip of the tea calmly and said,

“Louise’s marriage is not for me to decide.”

Undeterred, Chilila asked,

“But what if His Majesty allows it? You haven’t considered Babenberg as a possible match for Louise?”

I noticed Lurick’s shallow patience wearing thin, but Chilila seemed oblivious.

However, instead of ignoring Chilila, Lurick answered seriously.

“If my opinion matters, I’m against it. Babenberg is cold and too far away.”

The problem was that my brother was looking at me instead of Chilila when he said that.

Chilila smiled brightly, relieved.

“As expected! I knew you’d feel that way, brother. Actually, I feel the same. Louise is too delicate for the north.”

Lurick suddenly turned serious.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her during the short trip.”

Chilila bit her lower lip, caught off guard.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰, 𝘺𝘰𝘶?’

No matter how strong you are, our brother would never take you instead of me……
