Choosing the Baby’s Father From the Following – Chapter 13.1

Chapter 13

To be exact, it was I who grabbed his hand.

‘𝘖𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦, 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘬, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘨𝘰.’

However, I was briefly startled when Ren approached me, or rather, Callisteon, in an unusually overbearing manner.

Callisteon clicked his tongue as he let go of my hand first.

“Looks like you left your manners at the Mage Tower. Can’t you see that Lou is scared?”

That being said, Callisteon’s hand was also brushing against the hilt of the sword at his waist.

The fireplace, from which Ren had just emerged, roared menacingly with a strange wind-like sound.

“Manners? The one who talks about manners tried to trick me into separating from you?”

Callisteon scoffed.

“How long have you been waiting to be so angry? How much of my land was burned by the fire you recklessly set?”

Ren didn’t back down and retorted sarcastically.

“Wasn’t it too barren to be of any use anyway? Who knows? Maybe with my help, it will become a place for fire-field farmers.”

“How dare you even mention fire-field farming in Babenberg…….”

One was the best Sword Master on the continent alongside Lurick, and the other was a wizard called the genius Mage Tower Master.

It was pitiful enough that I had to intervene between the two, but I couldn’t just stand by and watch.

“Both of you, stop it.”

The density of the air in the room, which had been suffocating, instantly returned to normal.

Relieved without showing it, I spoke to Ren first.

“Ren, it’s not appropriate to appear through the fireplace anytime, especially when my brother is back. At least give me a warning.”

“What?”

The genius wizard asked back with a shocked face, but even if he were the real father and Louise’s one and only lover, I wouldn’t change my mind.

‘𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘺’𝘴 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵?’

What if I was changing clothes, doing something secret, or looking awful!

“Can’t you give notice?”

“No, I can’t.”

Callisteon interjected mockingly.

“He’s more than capable. That’s just how poorly mannered the uncultured rascal is.”

As the atmosphere turned sour again, I spoke to Callisteon.

“Ren went back to Babenberg at my request. It’s too much to have ditched him and come back alone, Cal.”

“Lou, but…”

I continued without giving him a chance to make excuses.

“Of course, Ren made a mistake a few days ago, but…… Don’t do that again, okay?”

Persuaded with utmost kindness, Callisteon nodded slightly.

“……I’ll try.”

Ren gritted his teeth and held out his hand to Callisteon, then pulled it back with an expression as if he would get a rash if he touched him.

“Erni and I have agreed to a truce again. P romise me in front of Lou too.”

Callisteon didn’t look like he wanted to at all, but when I deliberately looked at him with expectant eyes, he reluctantly nodded.

Then he added pointedly.

“Don’t use any underhanded tricks.”

Ren also gritted his teeth.

“Look who’s talking.”

So, their relationship seemed much worse than Ren’s and Ernst’s.

‘𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭, 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳?’

Satisfied that I had moderately mediated between the two, I brought up what I had to say.

“Anyway, it’s a good thing you both came. I have a favor to ask.”
