My Children Swarm the Cosmos – Chapter 17

𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐤 (2)

Aria’s wave interference began.

What Kreion’s vision, hearing, and sense of touch that make up his nerves are receiving is a phenomenon that is not actually happening.

𝘒𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶𝘶. . .!

Black storm clouds cover the entire sky in sight and torrential thunderstorms pour down. The paint on the tall corporate buildings peels off in an instant and the concrete crumbles into powder and collapses.

The whole landscape where he is becomes ruins like a city that has fallen into Mars. Office workers on their way to work have their clothes burnt, their skin peeled off, and scream hellishly as if they had been hit by a nuclear blast.

𝘈𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩 𝘢𝘩!!!!!!!

An intense heat is felt on the skin. That heat, at an astronomical temperature, burnt Kreion’s skin, making him look no different from the screaming humans around him.

𝘎𝘳𝘳𝘳𝘳𝘳𝘳𝘳𝘳!!!!

From above the clouds, a colossal creature whose shape cannot be discerned stimulates transcendental fear. Shadows larger than the clouds flutter strangely in the sky, waving their fists and tentacles.

Amidst everything being covered with hallucinations, illusions, and auditory hallucinations, only Aria standing in front of him is looking at Kreion normally.

And Kreion also stands there and endures, realizing that what he is experiencing now is false.

From behind Kreion, Ludwig comes over and stabs a needle into his shoulder.

𝘚𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘩. . .!

━𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡, 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐞, 𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐧, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. . . . 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. . . . 𝐈’𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬. . . . 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝. . . .

In Kreion’s memories, the very things that haunt him take form and curse him. It is why his breath grows ever more ragged and his heart beats ever faster.

A wave of emotions, be it nervousness, guilt, regret, or anxiety, pierces through his mind and materializes all around him.

Perhaps what Kreion sees, hears, feels, and senses now is a projection of what Kreion abhors and fears the most.

━𝐊𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.

Aria now has giant bat-like wings spread out behind her, and horns have sprouted from her forehead. Her eyes burn with an unfathomable crimson glow, and tears of blood stream down from those blazing eyes. She is the very image of a devil.

“Be quiet. . . .”

Kreion struggles with his trembling body, but she does not stop.

━𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞? 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥?

She draws near.

“Don’t come any closer. . . .”

━𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞? 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫?

Kreion’s body tries to transform on its own. The veins in the nape of his neck, wrists, and the backs of his hands bulge visibly, pulsating. It seems as though he will spew forth a substance that will form a black armor, an exoskeleton, at any moment.

━𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐭. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐳 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞.

━𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞, 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐞.

It’s scary.

But even so,

“Hmph. . . . Ha. . . .”

Kreion brings his trembling hands together.

━𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝. 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐩 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐳, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐤𝐞𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝟒𝟐𝟗. 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨, 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐞.

“. . .I’m doing it right now.”

Kreion breaks his own fingers with his clasped hands.

𝘚𝘯𝘢𝘱. . .!

The excruciating pain caused by the snapping joints stimulates his nerves.

The pain is ‘real’.

It has been transmitted from ‘reality’ to this place.

━𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦? 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨?

‘𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸.’

━. . .𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐲?

‘𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸.’

Aria instinctively feels that something is wrong.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭?’

━𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰.

“. . .!”

Their thoughts overlapped.

Aria was clearly the one reading the other party.

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨?! 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥?!’

━𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰.

The boundary of their thoughts has crumbled.

In other words, Aria’s and Kreion’s two consciousnesses have merged into one.

In other words, Kreion has also sent out waves and tapped into Aria’s brain.

Just like he did to whomever it was during the preliminary selection. Overlapped.

“What is. . . . I don’t know. . . .”

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴?’

“What’s happening. . .?”

Now, she is confused about what her own thoughts are. She feels as if she has forgotten what she was just thinking about. More importantly, she can’t remember what she was doing just now.

‘𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. . . . 𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵. . .?’

‘𝘔𝘦.’

“Me?”

‘𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘵?’

━𝐍𝐨.

“I don’t know. . . .”

━𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝. . . .

‘𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵?’

She sends out waves and speaks words whose meaning is unknown, not knowing whose consciousness it is, not knowing whose voice it is.

Both Kreion and Aria concentrated their psychic powers to seize the initiative in their consciousness.

🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸

The deputy team leader of the bioengineering team taps Kreion on the shoulder.

“Mr. Kreion? Why aren’t you going in?”

“. . . .”

Amidst the company employees on their way to work, Kreion stands still, his gaze fixed somewhere like a mannequin.

The deputy team leader looks at him curiously.

“Mr. Kreion?”

“. . . .”

“Are you feeling unwell? Why are you acting like this?”

“. . . .”

“. . .This is strange. I’ll go in first. You can explain later.”

To the deputy team leader, Kreion is just a promising and young new employee. They are not particularly close. That is why the deputy team leader feels a little unpleasant at Kreion ignoring him, and soon turns his attention away and enters the company.

“. . . .”

At that same moment, Aria also stands still in that spot, staring blankly in the direction where Kreion is.

People who have started a new day continue to pass by, and after about 3 minutes of staring at each other, Aria and Kreion finally move.

“. . . .”

Aria turns her body as it is and heads towards the bustling area.

“. . . .”

Kreion also enters the company as he was going.

And that night, Aria was found hanged at her home by her secretary.

🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸🔸

At Kreion’s mansion, Haber receives a notification on his mobile phone and rushes to the basement.

Haber opens the door leading to the basement and shouts.

“Young Master! Good news! I just heard that another one dropped out!”

Kreion comes up from the basement stairs.

“I know.”

“The announcement? This is an announcement that the Foundation only gives to secretaries. . . .”

“Aria’s waves were cut off a while ago.”

“Did you connect your waves with Aria’s?”

“I manipulated her according to my will.”

Ludwig peeks his head out from behind Kreion.

“Er. . . . Oh, so does that mean you took care of Aria, Young Master?”

“You there, human. . . . Bow your waist and lower your head when you see the master. . . .”

“Go back inside, Ludwig.”

“. . .Yes. . . .”

Kreion locks the door to the secret basement and comes out with Haber to the spacious first floor.

“I mixed a virus that destroys only her nerve cells into my exhalation.”

“You mixed it into your exhalation, you say. . .?”

“This morning, Aria attacked me in front of the company. I thought that with her ability, she could attack me anytime, anywhere, so I prepared for that.”

“She could attack you anytime, anywhere, yet she showed up in front of Kreion-nim?”

“Yes. A chimeraz’s waves can only be forced if the distance to the target is close. If she had attacked me with her waves from afar, I would have simply ignored the waves themselves.”

Haber nods his head thoughtfully.

“That’s why, assuming that Aria would ambush me at close range, I took measures so that the virus would always be mixed in the breath I exhale.”

“Isn’t the virus a resource?”

“While I was active outside, I stored up bodily substances so that I could continue to exhale it.”

Haber takes out his mobile phone again and composes an email for his report.

“From what I know, there was no commotion at the company. Can you tell me what kind of engagement it was?”

“We fought by trying to snatch each other’s consciousness with our waves. Aria’s psychic power and concentration were superior to mine, but the virus must have spread while I was fighting her. Regardless of my will.”

“Yes. A virus that selectively destroys only Aria’s nerve cells.”

“She and I fought in a consciousness made of waves. My memory is hazy, but I think both of us must have poured all of our consciousness into that fight. In the meantime, the virus attacked her unprotected physical body.”

“Ah. . . . But I heard that Aria was found hanged at her home.”

“As problems arose in her body, the psychic power and concentration that she prided herself on collapsed all at once. As a result, I interpreted her waves in reverse and intervened in her consciousness to absorb her ability.”

“What kind of ability?”

“Legion Dominance. That was the expanded ability. I became able to strongly intervene in the minds of chimeraz. I erased Aria’s will and memories and gave her orders. To return home, hang herself quietly, and stop her own heart. That’s all.”

“You were overwhelming this time too. You’re amazing.”

Kreion briefly looks away, then,

“. . .It was an unpleasant fight. It was an unpleasantness I had never experienced before.”

Haber carefully replies to Kreion’s unexpected reaction.

“I can’t imagine a fight where you snatch each other’s consciousness. Haha. . . . But since you won by preparing for it in advance, it must have been a victory entirely by Young Master’s own power.”

“Haber.”

“Yes, Young Master.”

“What do you think of me?”

At the sudden question, Haber tries to hide his confusion with a smile.

“Regardless of age or species, you are always the Young Master that I serve.”

Kreion, who had been staring into space, meets Haber’s eyes.

“You are the human who has spent the longest time with me.”

“That’s right. Haha.”

“That’s why I believe you won’t betray me. You’re the only human I trust.”

Haber understands the meaning of this and nods his head heavily.

“. . .It is an honor.”

Was it a satisfactory answer? Kreion walks past Haber and towards the front door.

“In that sense, I should take care of the traitors first.”

“Are you going out now?”

“Yes.”

“The remaining opponents are Tosis and Damian. Since there are only two left, wouldn’t it be better to take a break today? Aria just dropped out a while ago. . . . I think it’s better to prepare more.”

“My opponents will prepare as much as I prepare. And it won’t be easy to predict that an attack will come today, when a competitor has just been reduced.”

It seems that the coming-of-age ceremony will end very soon.

“Ah, yes. I understand. Then, who will you be attacking this time?”

“Bellum Damian.”

“Don’t you know Damian’s address?”

“It was in Aria’s memories.”

“Aha. . . .”

Today, he realized for the first time how unpleasant it is to be betrayed.

That’s because the fake reality that Aria showed him was a great shock to him.

That’s why Damian is the next target.
