“Ah, just thinking about it makes me crave curry.”
ㅤ
Startled by Rolf’s voice, I snapped back to reality.
I looked down at the yakitori skewers I had apparently finished eating and felt disappointed. I had come here to study flavors, but ended up simply enjoying my meal.
ㅤ
“Edgardo has finished eating as well. Alright, let’s go to the cake shop.”
“Wait, I haven’t decided yet.”
“In that case, let’s go wherever you want.”
ㅤ
Edgardo’s face suddenly lights up.
Rolf, who doesn’t usually eat sweets, looked slightly resigned but affectionately messed up Edgardo’s hair. Edgardo, surprised but acting his age, said, “What the heck!” yet still accepted this expression of affection with a smile.
Yes, everything is as it should be.
ㅤ
ㅤ
After finishing the yakitori, the three of us walked to the cake shop. Edgardo and Rolf, who usually get around by vehicle, seemed to enjoy looking at the city and its people.
Both of them, chivalrous as they are, walked at a pace to match my shorter stride. Even though I was walking as fast as I could without appearing out of breath, they seemed to have a surplus of leg length.
Edgardo peered into my face with a smile.
ㅤ
“Miss Norchev, you have such charming legs.”
ㅤ
I wondered if he was indirectly mocking my short legs, but that doesn’t seem like something Edgardo would do. To be honest, I would rather he didn’t look at my legs since they’re rather thick.
Though slightly short of breath, I tried to look as composed as possible.
ㅤ
“Thank you.”
ㅤ
I’m not sure if that was the correct response, but since Edgardo deepened his smile, I decided it must not have been bad. Rolf chuckled, shaking his shoulders, and Edgardo nudged him with his elbow, still smiling.
We arrived at the targeted cake shop while the two of them were playfully interacting. The clerk, sensing the noble aura that they couldn’t quite hide despite their simple clothes, guided us to a private room without a word.
ㅤ
The private room on the second floor of the shop was a spacious area with a predominantly white color scheme. Perhaps catering to a female clientele, it was decorated in soft pastel colors.
As we sat in the chairs that were pulled out for us, the guiding clerk quickly exited. Another clerk, who had been on standby from the beginning, remained by the wall.
ㅤ
“What do you have for today?”
“We have four kinds of cakes that can only be eaten in the shop.”
ㅤ
The clerk smoothly described the cakes. Freshly picked fruits, freshly whipped cream made in-house from just-squeezed milk, eggs that were laid just a few hours ago—enticing words all lined up.
ㅤ
“In that case, three servings of those.”
“Also, add some light meals. You may go now.”
“Certainly.”
ㅤ
As the clerk left, Rolf grinned at Edgardo.
ㅤ
“He even ordered for me without asking.”
“That must be Rolf’s doing. Miss Norchev, he ordered without consulting you, is that alright?”
“I can’t eat that much, so if it’s alright with you, Valka-sama, would you like to eat about three pieces of cake?”
“What? Three pieces? . . .Miss Norchev, don’t hold back.”
“No, I really can’t eat that much.”
“I can’t eat that many sweets either. If Miss Norchev is saying this, we should gratefully accept.”
“. . .Understood. Miss Norchev, thank you.”
ㅤ
The cake we ate in such a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere was extremely delicious.
ㅤ
ㅤ
Thor, your Nee-sama has gotten a bit more used to men. Will Thor be pleased? Even though she has to marry and connect to another family to fulfill her role as a noblewoman, she seemed quite happy about not liking men and not getting married. . .
Next time I go home, I’ll ask if he’s met anyone he’s interested in at school.
