I would like to help
I arranged a hearse to transport my father to the church and called in the undertaker to discuss the funeral.
Despite feeling sadness, there was no time for tears.
While we were mourning and grieving, my uncle’s family seized the Duke’s house. I had to proceed with things quickly.
I had to dismiss the butler.
It was painful to give such a notice to him who had served us with sincerity and dedication.
However, there was no other choice since we had to leave here.
The butler accepted my proposal and left Duke Mendoza’s house.
For the other servants who were left, I entrusted them with recommendation letters and severance pay.
ㅤ
I quietly had dinner with Florenci.
He ate the food I prepared without any complaints. I felt glad that I had been serving food even before my father passed away.
ㅤ
After a dizzyingly busy day, I slept in the same bed with Florenci.
When I lay down, the sleeping Florenci moved closer to me, as if seeking warmth.
I embraced his body and closed my eyes.
I thought I might not be able to sleep, but perhaps because I was tired, I drifted off immediately.

ㅤ
The next day――a visitor appeared at the mansion.
It wasn’t my uncle’s family, but Rachael.
ㅤ
“Forgive me for intruding this early, Graciela-sama. Your letter mentioned you needed help, so I thought it would be best to see you as soon as possible.”
“Thank you, Rachael-sama.”
ㅤ
Apparently, she hadn’t left the country yet.
I had been wanting to talk to her directly, so I was honestly relieved.
Rachael took my hand and began to speak with moist eyes.
ㅤ
“Your Otou-sama’s situation must have been tough. Please, don’t let it get you down.”
“Yes, thank you.”
ㅤ
Rachael, whom I had only met once at a night party, was concerned about me and offered words of encouragement.
She was a kind woman, a stark contrast to my uncle’s family. It’s no wonder she’s called a saint.
ㅤ
I led her to a guest room that was relatively well-maintained and made tea for her.
She seemed puzzled by this.
ㅤ
“Graciela-sama, you’re making the tea yourself. . . . . . Do you not have any servants?”
“I have dismissed them all.”
“Oh, why?”
ㅤ
To win Rachael over, I revealed my secret.
ㅤ
“Actually, the Duke Mendoza family’s property is being targeted by my uncle’s family. . . . . .While my father’s condition is poor, I’ve frozen the property to prevent them from taking over the house until my six-year-old brother comes of age.”
“Is that so. . . . . .It’s quite a decision you’ve made.”
“It’s all for my brother. However, my uncle’s family doesn’t know about this. Even on the day my father passed away, they came cheerfully to take charge of the funeral.”
ㅤ
With this explanation, she seemed to understand the precarious situation that Florenci and I were in.
ㅤ
“So if your uncle finds out the secret, it would be a big problem.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
ㅤ
This was the main point. I sat up straight, looked directly at Rachael, and spoke.
ㅤ
“That’s why I plan to hide for a while in Binemöer, pretending my brother is my son.”
“Oh! You have such a grand plan?”
“Yes, I’ve been feeling threatened by my uncle for a while now.”
ㅤ
What I meant by “a while ago” was before I had rewound time. It was more than just a feeling, but this should be enough information for Rachael to understand.
ㅤ
Rachael leaned forward, her eyes moist, and offered to help.
ㅤ
“Is there anything I can do to help?”
ㅤ
As expected from the saint of Binemöer. She gets straight to the point.
With an apologetic look on my face, I made a request.
ㅤ
“It might be a bit presumptuous and difficult, but after I move to Binemöer, could you possibly introduce me to a job and a place to live?”
ㅤ
She seemed to have expected this. Rachael did nothing but nod.
ㅤ
“But why, Graciela-sama, are you pretending your brother is your son? Isn’t that unnecessary?”
“If a sister and a much younger brother move to a foreign country, it might draw unwanted attention.”
“I see, that makes sense when you put it that way. But are you okay with that?”
“Okay with what?”
“If a nice person comes along, they might not approach you thinking you’re married.”
“I haven’t considered falling in love with someone in a foreign land.”
ㅤ
The status of a married woman could also work in my favor.
Any man who pursues a married woman can only be described as dangerous. To avoid relationships with such people, it would be better for me to pose as Florenci’s mother.
ㅤ
“So you’re quite determined.”
“Yes.”
ㅤ
Rachael closed her eyes and crossed her arms, seemingly deep in thought.
Ordinary people wouldn’t lend a helping hand to a foreigner they hardly know.
However, she is a renowned saint.
I clasped my hands and prayed for her help.
ㅤ
“I understand. I will support you and your brother.”
“Rachael-sama, are you sure?!”
“Yes, I have been facing a slight problem myself. And I realized borrowing your help would be the solution.”
“A problem, you say?”
“Yes.”
ㅤ
While easing the frown between her eyebrows, Rachael begins to talk about the situation.
ㅤ
“My grandmother, she’s a misanthrope, and doesn’t keep any attendants. Her hobby, if it can be called that, is to invite young knights for tea. . . . . .I’ve been wishing that she would at least keep one attendant.”
“Oh, that’s. . . . . .”
ㅤ
Her hobby is having tea parties with young knights, quite a lively grandmother she has.
ㅤ
“Graciela-sama, I’m sure she will like you. How about it? Would you become my grandmother’s attendant?”
ㅤ
She proposes that I live in the unused outbuilding of her grandmother’s house.
ㅤ
“The garden is beautiful, it’s a quiet place. Young people call it a boring place, but I love it. How about you?”
“Well, it’s a great honor, but I’m worried because I have no experience in the job of being an attendant.”
“Oh, really? The tea you brewed is very tasty. I’m sure my grandmother will also be impressed.”
ㅤ
Honestly, I don’t have confidence in being liked by others. The people I’ve been associated with so far have probably been friendly with me on the premise that I’m the daughter of Duke Mendoza’s family.
However, having the opportunity to be an attendant to a noble lady is an excellent opportunity I cannot miss.
The quiet land would also provide a good environment for Florenci.
ㅤ
“Rachael-sama, thank you.”
ㅤ
I bowed deeply and accepted Rachael’s proposal.
